Chapter 7 A Stranger's Move
- The man in the photograph was handsome, but in person, he was a vision of power and mystery. He was young—far younger than anyone would expect for a man in his position—having taken over his father's empire at an age when most were still trying to figure out what they wanted out of life. His father’s sudden, mysterious death had fueled rumors: some whispered it was a trusted associate’s betrayal, while others believed it was the slow death of cancer. The truth, of course, was locked away, carefully guarded, and Eve had no intention of uncovering it tonight—at least, not yet.
- The voice of Mr. Miles snapped Eve out of her thoughts. "Oh, my loss! I hope we see that day. I'll be right back," he said before striding off toward the mafia king, who was surrounded by a crowd of men, all eager to win his favor. Eve couldn’t help but feel the weight of the man’s presence—he wasn’t just any businessman; he was a titan, a force whose every move seemed to reverberate across the room, as if he were playing chess with the world.
- But Eve had a different game to play, one far more dangerous and deadly. She had been sent to eliminate him, and tonight, she would do whatever it took to fulfill her mission. But as her eyes lingered on him, the unease in her chest only deepened. There was something about him that felt... off. A quiet intensity emanated from him, and she realized this wouldn't be as easy as she had thought.
