Chapter 19 Waiting game
- Eve stood alone on the long, empty road, the only sound being the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. She was dressed in a crisp, navy blue pantsuit, the fitted jacket accentuating her slender waist. A white blouse with a subtle sheen peeked out from beneath the jacket, adding a touch of elegance to her overall appearance. Her dark hair was pulled back into a sleek, low ponytail, and her eyes were shaded by a pair of trendy, black-framed sunglasses.
- Just as Eve was starting to feel like she'd been standing there forever, a sleek, black SUV pulled up beside her. The window rolled down, revealing Kelly's concerned face.
- Kelly's expression was a mixture of relief and concern as she gazed at Eve through the open window of the SUV. "Eve, thank God you're safe," she said, her voice trembling with relief. "I was worried sick about you. When you didn't check in, I thought the worst."
