Chapter 6 A Night Of Deception Amd Desire

  • She suddenly heard a voice behind her say, "Hello, Eve." The sound sent a shiver down her spine, and she turned swiftly, her eyes landed on a familiar face. But it was a face she hadn't expected to see here, and her eyes widened in surprise.
  • "You," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Her eyelids furrowed, and she took a step back, her eyes narrowing. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her tone cautious.
  • The man smiled, his dimple deepening, and Eve's heart skipped a beat. "I...work here," he said, his voice smooth.
  • Eve's face was expressionless, but her mind was racing. Maybe this man was following her. She had felt unsettled after seeing him this morning, and now he was here, in this room. She knew she had seen him somewhere before, but her memories of him remained frustratingly blank.
  • She pushed her lips out, nodding slowly before asking, "And my name?"
  • The man snorted, a smirk settling at the corner of his lips. "Actually, I happened to hear you introduce yourself to your friends," he said, his voice dripping with amusement.
  • Eve's eyes narrowed. "You know it was rude to eavesdrop, right?" she questioned, not liking that he knew her name.
  • The man countered in a deep tone, "I didn't eavesdrop." There was a stillness as the two stared at each other, the air thick with tension.
  • As Eve turned to walk away, her gaze caught on the stranger's outfit, and she couldn't help but pause. He exuded elegance in a tailored black Gucci suit that hugged his chiseled physique perfectly. The slim lapels and fitted waist accentuated his broad shoulders and lean torso, making him look like a model straight out of a fashion magazine.
  • A crisp black dress shirt, made of the finest Italian cotton, complemented the suit perfectly. The subtle sheen and precise stitching of the shirt added a touch of sophistication to the overall ensemble. A slim black tie and a pair of polished black shoes completed the look, making the stranger look like a million bucks.
  • A smile settled on Eve's lips as she looked up at the stranger's face. "You look quite expensive for a worker here," she said, her voice laced with amusement.
  • The stranger's eyes narrowed slightly, his mind racing to come up with a plausible explanation. But Eve's words had caught him off guard, and he was momentarily stunned into silence. Damn! This lady was by far smarter than he thought.
  • Before he could gather his wits and spin another lie, Eve turned around and walked away, leaving him standing alone in the grand entrance hall.
  • The stranger's eyes followed Eve as she disappeared into the crowd, his mind whirling with thoughts. Did he really need to explain himself to her? He wasn't sure, but one thing was certain - he was intrigued by this woman.
  • The inside hall of the mansion was a sight to behold. A massive chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room. The sound of soft music drifted through the air, courtesy of a live guitarra team playing slow, sultry rhythms in the corner.
  • Waiters in crisp black and white uniforms flitted about, serving drinks to the assembled guests. Socialites and business tycoons mingled and laughed, their conversations hushed and urgent. The air was thick with the scent of wealth and power, and Eve had just walked right into the heart of it all.
  • The mansion was abuzz with the cream of society, the men resplendent in high-tailored suits and flashy shoes, while the women dazzled in expensive gowns and glittering jewels. As Eve made her way into the building, her eyes scanning the crowd for her date, her stunning beauty couldn't help but turn heads.
  • Many eyes rested on her, men wondering who she was and who she had come with, while the ladies' faces were masked with obvious jealousy and envy. Eve's poise and confidence only seemed to exacerbate the situation, as if she were completely unaware of the stir she was causing.
  • Just then, her eyes caught sight of a hand waving in her direction. Loren had called her attention to where he stood, surrounded by a small crowd of admirers. Eve made her way towards them, her heels clicking on the marble floor.
  • As she approached, she bowed slightly to the gathered crowd, her movements elegant and refined. "Meet Eve, a very important associate of mine," Lorenzo announced, his voice filled with pride. The crowd murmured in response, their eyes fixed on Eve with renewed interest.
  • A man stepped forward, his hand extended in greeting, accompanied by a charming smile. "Virgo Miles, the owner of Miles's Enterprise," he introduced himself, his voice smooth and confident.
  • Eve's stoic expression gave way to a polite smile as she took his hand in a firm handshake. "Eve," she replied, her voice measured.
  • She knew this man, Virgo Miles. He was one of her father's business partners, notorious for his shady dealings and rumored connections to the mafia. His reputation preceded him, and Eve's instincts warned her to tread carefully around him.
  • Virgo's smile deepened, his eyes glinting with curiosity. "Without a surname?" he asked, his tone light, but his gaze piercing.
  • Eve's smile turned into a small, enigmatic laugh. "I would rather not disclose," she replied, her voice dripping with mystery, leaving Virgo to wonder about the secrets she kept hidden.
  • Virgo Miles shook his head as he withdrew his hand, his eyes glinting with intrigue. "You're really an impeccable lady, I hope we get acquainted more, maybe after the party?" His voice was smooth, but his gaze was laced with a hint of deceit.
  • Before Eve could respond, Loren intervened, his voice firm. "Oh, Virgo. She'd be rather indisposed because we have something to do together, right Eve?" He shot her a warning glance, as if cautioning her against getting too close to Virgo.
  • Eve slowly shook her head, her expression neutral. "I never forget business, Sir Loren." She turned to Virgo, her smile polite. "One or two, we might come across another time. I'll be pleased to get to know more from you, Mr. Miles."
  • The exchange was brief, but the tension was palpable. The other guests watched with rapt attention, their faces a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.
  • Just then, whispers and small talk caught their attention, and they all looked up to see a young man, in his late 20's, walking down the stairs. His presence was commanding, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for someone.
  • Eve's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the man. This was her target, the man she had dressed for, the mafia king.
