Chapter 15 (Sidney's Pov)

• So…. That actually happened. For the first time in my life, I have stood up to Kelly and told her to fuck off. Honestly, the feeling was indescribable. It felt good. Well, the fact that Michael was still in my corner did not hurt even a little either. It was good knowing that my friend was still just that, my best friend. At some point since I came back, I started worrying that he might turn his back on me or that I would realize in years we had not seen each other he changed or something like that, but to my positive surprise he was still the same person.
• He was still my rock, my support in everything and the conclusion was I could still count on him, which meant more to me than I would ever be willing to confess to him. Honestly, I am sure his ego was still as big as a few years ago and based on that he did not need any additional ego boost.
• But as I looked across the table at Michael I was surprised. Sure, I would expect pride maybe even a bit of anger to swim in his eyes, but there was confusion and so many weird emotions, the kind I was not yet ready to name or even think about them when connecting to my best friend, so I just raised one of my eyebrows, which was our sign to spill out whatever was on your mind. I know, it was a weird way, but it worked for us, and it usually saved us a lot of time. And after a moment he finally got himself together so he could spill the question that was bothering him and it surprised me even more than his look, “What the hell did you do to my best friend and where did you hide her body?”
