Chapter 5
- Liam stared at his phone that has been ringing non-stop, he was this close to throwing the phone away but he knew if he did that, his mom would probably die of panicking, or she will be on the next available flight to New York, he didn't want her to do either of those the phone stopped ringing and he wished she wouldn't call again, but she did, his mom never give up, not even when things are not looking her way.
- "Mom,"
- He said finally taking the call, he couldn't ignore her anymore.
- "Liam, son,"
- "Mom, I am busy, you shouldn't be calling me during work hours, I have a lot to do here,"
- He scolded even though he knew she won't listen, his mom was one of a kind, she used to be his best friend that was until they wanted different things, he knew she had his best interest at heart but still, he would have preferred if she had respected his wish and let him make his own life decisions.
- "I am sorry son, I know you are busy but I had to call and check up on you, how are you doing?"
- "Mom, I am fine,"
- "Are you taking your drugs?"
- "Yes, mom,"
- He lied, he hasn't taken the drugs in over seven days and he was fine with not taking them, if he were with his mom she would nag him into taking them every day, which is why he moved far away from home, but his parents weren't ready to have that discussion with him, they still want him to continue being under their shield but that wasn't what he wanted, it hasn't been what he wanted since he turned eighteen but it had taken him almost ten years to finally break free from them, and now they want him to return home, he was sure if they knew he lived in a hotel here and work multiple jobs they would cry or go into full panic mode, especially his mom but this is how he wanted to live, experience life like any other human and just be normal.
- "I don't even know if I should believe you, son, you barely took your drug when you were home with us not to talk of now that you are on your own, I can't help but be worried about you son,"
- "Mom, there is nothing to be worried about, you are talking to me right now, right? And I am speaking well with you, you just need to trust me,"
- "I am trying to do just that son, but you don't have a very good record of taking care of your health and it is very disturbing,"
- His mom responded, she knew what she was saying was the truth that he was in fact doing exactly what she was so worried about but it was his choice, he was tired of depending on drugs, he just wants to be a normal twenty-six years old young man with his whole life ahead of him, even though it might just be for a short time.
- "Mom, I have to go, I have works to do,"
- He said, hoping his mom would listen but she didn't.
- "Liam, you should come back home my son, stop doing this to us,"
- Liam listen to his mom plead, he felt like a horrible son letting his mom beg him but he didn't have a choice, they weren't letting him make his own life choices, they just want to boss him and baby him and he wasn't going to have that.
- "Mom I am not a kid anymore, if only you can just keep that in mind maybe we won't have to talk about the same thing over and over again, just let it go, mom, as I am not going to change my mind whatever you say or do."
- "This is the worst thing your dad and I fear the most and we didn't even see it coming, Liam, you are not being fair, you are being so selfish, this shouldn't be your decision alone, we have a right to be a part of it since we gave you life,"
- "Mom, enough please, I didn't get to make many choices during my birth, I haven't made any choices all through my life, and this one time, I really want things to go my own way, if that's what it takes to be selfish then I am just going to be selfish, I am sorry mom, I am hanging up,"
- He said and dropped the call while his mom was still talking, he turned off his phone and slipped it into his scrub pocket just as someone walked into the pharmacy where he worked.
- "Hi, welcome, how may I he***"
- He greeted and paused when he saw who it was that showed up in his office, no other than the guy who hated him for no reason, Jordan, he still didn't know why Jordan had so much hatred for him when they have barely crossed part the first time he met the dude, he had been in a foul mood, and even taken his jokes the wrong way.
- "Hi, I brought your money, thanks for the ride yesterday,"
- He said slipping his hands in his pocket and bringing out some cash, Liam stared at him, no but he couldn't imagine he came all the way here to give him the money.
- "I don't need the money, I wasn't doing it to get paid,"
- He said pushing the money back away, the guy jumped when their hands touched as if he had a disease or something.
- "I don't like freebies, hate it with a passion so please take your money,"
- "And I said that I don't want it, didn't you hear that? Don't worry, it's nothing special,"
- "I never said it was special, I mean you are someone who is homeless, you might need to money,"
- He responded, slipping the cash into his trouser pocket, and bringing out his phone, he started to type in the account number on the way, which was put there for people that didn't want to pay with cash or a card.
- "Stop, I did it for free, I don't need your money,"
- "And I don't need your charity,"
- "Dude, just give me the money and live, you are such a mood killer,"
- Liam said stretching his hands, Jordan handed money to him and turned to leave, hissing loudly.
- "Jordan,"
- "What?"
- "You are handsome,"
- Liam said without thinking twice, he wasn't joking for real, the dude was beyond handsome, and he had the perfect body and face that anyone would want to have.
- "I know,"
- Liam watched as the dude left, the guy was in a mood and even though he hated him, Liam liked his presence, maybe because he was jealous of him and his freedom to do whatever he wants without annoying parents breathing down on his throat, he had listened to his conversation with his mom and it was different from the way he was with his own mom, in Liam's case his mom won't be happy waiting outside, neither would she have slapped him on the back for keeping her waiting, she would have instead been inspecting him for any damages as if he was breakable, yes he was sick, he wasn't like every other person but still, he won't break and that's why he left home, to prove to his parents that he could be on his own and be just fine.
