Chapter 66 - Initiation Ceremony

• The longing to be one with Maddie is there, a constant ache around my heart, but I understand her need to wait, if I am being honest I feel the same way, she may have Cassie’s forgiveness but it isn’t only Cassie she hurt, she hurt many people in this pack and I need a Luna who will care for them and gain their trust. For now we will announce who she is to us in the coming days and reassure the pack that we will wait until they have time to adjust to the new normal before we give Maddie her Luna power. Hopefully this reassurance will soften the pack and open them up to accepting her. But the announcement will not come today, today is going to be a celebration and I don’t want it dampened by the pack's reluctance to accept my mate.
• I had looked into initiations to ensure I knew what I was doing and I had come across a ceremony that I had not heard of before, a ceremony that binds the pack in a deeper and more complete way. By sharing my blood with everyone and having them share theirs as well, I was actually granting the whole pack my gift, the gift bestowed upon me by the moon goddess herself. I had found a way to give every member present the ability to communicate with their wolves and with each other via mind-link. The parchment, which I found hidden inside an old book, had seemed out of place, it was new, not battered or stained, it was fresh, but I had no idea how it had gotten into that book. Reading through the instructions I found myself wondering if this was another gift from the Goddess. I didn’t question it, I simply decided that it was something I wanted for my people. I had discussed it with Daisy and she agreed, she loved the plan. We had decided we would initiate Joe first and then the others, that way everyone would be included. Maddie, who was already a part of this pack had declined, I had tried to convince her but she chose to stay hidden away until she was accepted by the others. I told her of my gift and that it would be passed to everyone but for some reason she was determined to wait. She said that she did not deserve the gift, if the pack accepted her as their Luna then she felt she would be deserving.
