Chapter 56 - The Talk

• Dave POV -
• Jack coming here, tonight of all nights, had to mean whatever he had to say was important. I knew enough about Jack to know he would never ever interrupt me with my mate for anything less. So with a heavy heart, I walked away from my mate and down to my office. I think I have a pretty good idea about why he is here, I know he and Cassie, that I knew he would have told who my mate was, and she would have told him about their shared past, I knew that his coming here was him wanting to warn me, I know what he will tell me, thankfully Maddie already told me everything, she didn’t go into details about what she had done, but I knew enough to understand that me being mated to her would cause Cassie some concerns. So for now, my plan was to be honest with Jack and hope that he understands. I don’t know what I will do if Cassie refuses to hear Maddie out, I don’t know how I would feel if my mate and my best friends mate were at odds, the very idea of it turns my stomach. We had talked about everything and I believe her remorse is genuine, I just hope Cassie can look past it enough to listen to Maddie, to hear her out and to consider forgiving her. I know it will be a lot to ask of Cassie, her time here had not been happy and my mate had a lot to do with that unhappiness.
• Bracing myself for what was to come, I open the door to my own office and step inside.
