Chapter 53 A Difficult Day For Hazel

  • Hallen stood still, her lips seemingly sealed. Her face reflected a heavy inner struggle, as if she were about to step into an abyss of uncertainty. Her restless gaze flickered toward Hazel, then back down, as though trying to gather the courage. Her breath was shallow, and her wrinkled fingers clutched tightly at the apron she wore.
  • “Miss...” Hallen finally spoke, but her voice was very soft, almost a fearful whisper. She paused for a moment, swallowing before continuing. “The injuries... they're not because Grandma was careless or didn't rest.”
  • Hazel, who had been looking at Hallen with confusion, now seemed to hold her breath. Hallen's words flowed coldly in her ears. Her heart began to race, and her body tensed. She knew there was something bigger behind that statement, something that had likely been deliberately hidden.
