Chapter 29 A Misunderstanding

  • Hazel stared at her empty plate, a sign that she had finished her meal. With light steps, she got up from her seat. "I'm done, I'll help Aunt Hallen first," Hazel said, trying not to sound rushed.
  • Theo, who was still enjoying his meal, interrupted with a soft voice. "No need, Hazel. Let Aunt handle it," he said while looking at his plate, slightly diverting his attention from Hazel.
  • Hazel fell silent for a moment. Theo's words seemed to touch a sensitive spot in her. She felt a distance, as if something was being overlooked. A little annoyed, Hazel sat back down. She exhaled sharply. "Fine..." she murmured quietly, trying to calm herself.
