Chapter 19
- He did have a point, but I still wanted him to understand that I could not wait. I wanted my revenge plans working as soon as they could.
- “Look, I know how impulsive you can be Charlotte, but you’ll need to relax and think these things through.”
- I scoffed at his words, “You’ve barely known me awake for a week and somehow you’ve known me.”
- “I’ve seen you fight with your sister and my brother and I’m here hatching out a plan to make my brother jealous. I can boldly say that I know you. You’re impulsive.”
- He was a bit right but I hated that he was. It was like I was an open book while he was a closed slate.
- “Fine,” I succumbed to his words. “Do you have any date in mind?”
- “How about two months from now?” he suggested but I wasn’t having it. I wanted Marcus down as soon as possible.
- “I’ve listened to your conditions and I want this whole thing done by next week,” I said with finality in my tone. I didn’t care about what he would say.
- “You are stubborn, you know that right?”
- “I get that a lot,” I said to my feet. “Finish whatever you want to do and get back to me so I can get my family ready for a surprise. I want everyone involved in this.”
- “Where are you going?” he asked as he stood to his feet.
- “Home of course.”
- “Alone?”
- “What? You think I can’t walk on my own?”
- “I’m taking you home. No questions asked.”
- He grabbed my hand as he took me to his car, opening the door for me to get in before slamming the door shut.
- “Alrighty then,” he strained after getting into the car. “Let’s get you home safe.”
- He drove through the streets as I looked out of the car with excitement at how everything was going. My plans had been set in motion and I was about to get what I wanted.
- When we reached the house, he parked behind a Tesla.
- “Shit,” he sighed.
- “What is it?” I asked as he pointed to the car before me.
- “That’s my brother's car.”
- I couldn’t hold my excitement as I knew this was my moment. I had to grab this opportunity or I would lose it.
- “Come on in and meet my parents,” I smiled. “That way we can start up an early introduction before next week.”
- He looked at me with a skeptical look, “Are you sure?”
- “I am,” I smiled getting out of the car as he did the same.
- We both held hands like a real couple as we reached the door.
- I opened the door in time to see Marcus and Cheryl carrying plates around the house. It seemed like we were having a lunch party for I found my uncle and aunty sitting at the table with my father.
- They took one look at us and immediately knew something was up. I could see Marcus’s eyes darting from my face to my hand which was in his brother’s own. His face flushed red with jealousy at that moment.
- “Taevon,” he acknowledged his brother with a nod.
- “Marcus,” Taevon said in a deep voice as my mother showed up to hug me and my guest.
- “Come in,” she said, taking us to the dinner table. “There’s enough space for everyone. We are having an early lunch.”
- We sat at the table and soon enough everyone appeared with the food being served to us.
- We all ate in silence with the only sounds louder than anything being the clatter of utensils against the plates.
- “I’ve got something to say,” I said looking at Taevon who shook his head in anger. This got everyone’s attention. “Taevon and I are getting married.”
- Marcus choked on the food he was eating as shock spread over everyone’s faces with Taevon closing his eyes in embarrassment.
- My mother and father exchanged looks as they changed their expressions from that of shock to happiness.
- “That is wonderful news, pumpkin,” my father started. “But isn’t it a bit too soon? I mean, you just got out of a coma.”
- “Trust me dad, I’m doing okay.”
- They both smiled before turning to Taevon as everyone excluding Marcus and Cheryl stood to welcome him to the family with hugs and words of encouragement.
- Cheryl and Marcus stood to their feet as they approached me with anger in their eyes.
- “Kitchen, now,” growled Cheryl as she walked away with Marcus. I took a sip of water from my cup before joining them in the kitchen.
- “What do you think you’re doing?” Marcus asked in anger.
- “Getting married,” I sighed. “Why? Or am I not allowed to do that too?”
- They looked at each other and I could tell that they had so many words to say to me but I had to leave it for another day. Today was my day and I was going to enjoy it.
- I ignored them as I joined the party to talk about wedding plans and when we would be getting married.
- ***
- Fast forward to the next month and I found myself standing on the aisle with Taevon. I was finally getting married and my wish had finally come through.
- I looked through the cheering crowd to see Marcus and Cheryl and boy! were they pissed.
- I kissed Taevon to seal the deal before stepping down the aisle with my new husband.
- “This is a crazy plan,” he gritted to me while waving to the crowd. I turned to him, putting my arms around his shoulders.
- “That’s what makes this fun,” I smiled before leaning in for another kiss.
- I didn’t mind kissing him a thousand times in a day, so long as I got what I wanted, I could go to any length to achieve it.
- I was going to show them what real pain looked like and I would do it by being with Marcus’s brother.
- “It’s time for phase two of my plan,” I smiled evilly.
