Chapter 18 Like an Outsider
- Janice made sure to stress the words "from the countryside," and she wanted to see Summer fuming.
- If she could make Summer angry, then she would be glad.
- But Summer remained seated and did not even glance at the man as if the whole thing was of no concern to her.
- Indeed, she could not have cared less.
- The other members of the Steiner Family wanted to be on the good side of the Night Family, but she didn't want to, and she didn't have to.
- It did not matter to her whether Frederick remembered her or not.
- Janice looked at Summer and smirked when she realized that the latter did not react to her threat.
- She's just pretending! Summer is just pretending! She must be heartbroken now. Serves her right! Frederick could never be interested in a country bumpkin!
- But none of the four realized that Frederick had been staring at the back of Summer for quite some time now with a deep, enigmatic expression.
- Frederick only looked away when Summer boarded the plane, and he could not help but chuckle with interest.
- His assistant, who witnessed Frederick smile, was very surprised.
- What's going on? Frederick, who is usually so proper and unfriendly, smiled? I am very sure that it was not a fake smile that others give when they are being coerced to smile, but a natural one. How long have I not seen Frederick smile like that since he became the Alpha of the Polar Pack?
- On the plane, the family of four were seated on the same row as each other. Dylan continued to have a bad attitude towards Summer after he sat down and told her to get the luggage, their coats, and even the charger for their phones.
- To the others, she was like a nanny for the family of three.
- At that moment, the flight attendant came over and said to Dylan, "Mr. Steiner, because you have enough flying miles, you and your family can be upgraded to first class for free."
- Dylan decided to fly economy this time not only because he was cheap but also because he realized that he could upgrade for free this time.
- Dylan got up from the table with a smile and said, "Thank you. Please take us over. "
- Janice and Celeste also followed his lead and stood up after him.
- The flight attendant turned to Summer, who was the last to get up. "I'm sorry, but there are only three complimentary upgrade offers. So…"
- "Only three?" Dylan was in a dilemma. Should I allow Janice to sit in first class, or rather, Summer?
- Celeste saw Dylan's predicament and said, "You must have realized that Summer is a little dull. She can't be much of an assistance anyway. Besides, this is Janice's award function. Why not let Janice have the seat?"
- After a few seconds of thinking, he nodded.
- He said to Summer, "There are only three seats available, so there's no other way. We'll meet up after we get off the plane. It's the same either way."
- Summer looked at Dylan with a very deep look.
- It would be a lie to say that she was not disappointed, but she could not let Celeste and Janice see her disappointment.
- Therefore, she nodded and replied, "It's okay."
- "I'm sorry," Dylan said as he led Celeste and Janice to the first-class cabin.
- Taking the opportunity, Janice lagged behind and whispered to Summer, "Summer, it seems that Dad still loves me more, so you have to try harder in the future! I'm going to the first-class cabin. You stay in economy class for now. First class is not a big deal, just wider seats and better service, so don't be sad, okay?"
- Following her mockery, Janice strolled to the first-class cabin, comfortably sat down, and ordered a glass of red wine for free.
- …
- Back in economy class, once Dylan and the others left, Summer shut her eyes.
- She was also human. She would also feel sad, but she dared not show it. She could not show any weakness, so she had to fool herself.
- However, this was short-lived, as her peace was soon to be interrupted.
- "Pardon me, miss… Are you alone? Can I join you?"
- An elegant-looking man stared at her in disbelief. He seemed to be politely asking a question, but his Adam's apple moved—he was gulping.
- Summer coldly replied, "It's not convenient. My family will be back soon."
- The man left regretfully, knowing that a woman like her was not for him. She was way out of his league.
- He asked himself what kind of man could subdue such a high-quality woman.
- Shortly after the man left, another man came up to her. "Miss…"
- Summer glanced up with annoyance, and then she stared at the newcomer with surprise. Isn't he the man who was reporting something to Frederick at the airport?
- The man introduced himself. "I work for Mr. Night. He wants to meet you and has arranged for you to join him on his private plane. The crew has been informed."
- Summer thought for a while and then nodded her head affirmatively.
- It was crowded on the plane, and she was just accosted by someone. She did not wish to be disturbed again.
- "Okay."
- "I will take you there now," the man said, gesturing to her to follow him.
- To disembark the plane, they had to go through first class.
- Janice was the first to see Summer approaching them.
- She rose from her seat and asked, "Summer, what is it with you? Can't you take a little discomfort? Why do you have to compete with me? Don't you remember what we are here for? It's my award ceremony."
- Summer replied in a cold tone, "I'm not competing with you for anything."
- Janice looked at her with a frown. "Then, why are you here?"
- At that moment, Dylan also piped in, "Summer, what are you doing? I thought you were well-behaved, but it turns out you're not."
- Before Summer could open her mouth to say anything, the man beside her explained, "You all have it wrong. Ms. Moore is not here to sit in the first class. I came to escort her to the private plane. It is the one beside us."
- "What?" Janice looked out the window and could hardly believe her ears.
- Beside them was a luxurious private plane with the word 'Night' written on the side of the aircraft—the Night Family's private plane.
