Chapter 9
- When the sun was bright enough that I wished for sunglasses, I knew I’d been walking for a few hours. It was day three. No call from Davis. For all I knew they were never coming back.
- Days one and two also involved walking in other directions yet thinking of nothing.
- Leone hadn’t been lying about his disposition, it had deteriorated rapidly. When I’d returned yesterday, he’d picked up the bed and beaten it against the wall. Needless to say, the bed didn’t make it. He’d dropped down on the mattress on the floor and hadn’t gotten back up again.
