Chapter 43
- I had no idea what time of day or night it was. The curtains in Alona’s room were so dark, they blocked out all the light. After the apartment had emptied, Leone and Michael had gotten me back to the bed. The doctor had popped in, literally, for a few minutes and agreed I was improving rapidly. According to my body, that was questionable. Leone had woken me a few times for blood, then I’d find myself lying there with Michael lurking in the doorway while Leone went to feed.
- “You don’t like me much, do you?” I whispered into the darkness toward his outline in the door.
- “My personal feelings in all this are irrelevant, but I don’t dislike you as much as you think.”
