Chapter 14 Humans

• Esthela released the man from her grasp, her cheeks flushing as she instinctively stepped back from Prince Erick. Despite his frequent visits among humans, he had never engaged so intimately with a human woman before. Confusion marked his features as he failed to understand her reaction, prompting him to speak quickly.
• "Forgive me, Miss Esthela, if I have frightened you. That was not my intention; I only wished to bring you comfort," he said, distancing himself from her, fearful that she might flee as she did when her eyes had been red with distress.
• Esthela stood frozen, her eyes wide with realization. She had understood everything the prince had communicated to her—how was that possible? The language spoken by the man who had transformed from the giant deer was foreign to her, yet she comprehended it perfectly. And now, observing him intently, she realized he was human. Not just any human, but an exceedingly attractive one at that. From where she stood, she continued to gaze at him, still uncertain of how to react. The man before her was undeniably handsome.
