Chapter 250
- She woke up with a scream, bathed in sweat and agitated, the nightmare still enveloping her. Once again the image of Richard's distorted face, his threats, the knife, the insults. She shuddered, sitting up in bed, gasping for fresh air to pull her out of the terror. A week had passed and she still felt the fear and desperation.
- Her skin was a map clearly showing the abuse she had suffered at the hands of that man who had lost all sanity. It didn't matter that she knew he was currently imprisoned awaiting what would be a short and damning trial. Her testimony along with that of Detective Perry, Kaleb, and the men who had rescued her would be enough to imprison him for many years. He would no longer be a threat in her life, she could reclaim her name, her peace of mind, live without fear or looking back. However, this did not erase the trauma she had experienced. It would be necessary to resume therapy, but she would do so without hesitation. She would have Marie's help, who had decided to move to Los Angeles to be close by. She couldn't be happier, they were very close and she knew that Marie had been as lonely as she was.
- She had Kaleb. She sighed, feeling calmer, reveling in the idea of the man she loved by her side. She hadn't imagined that the dominant and sexy businessman would be her knight in shining armor, the one who would save her from the monster. She had thought she had lost him, convinced that she had been just a passing amusement for him. But he had shown her otherwise, using everything at his disposal to find and save her, hiring specialized personnel, relentlessly pressuring the police and Detective Perry.
