• Hanah was finishing organizing the shelves with the new book copies that had arrived at Mrs. Rose's store. That had always been her favorite escape during high school, and now it had become her refuge against the storm of Ares Prokopis.

• The sound of the bell on the entrance door interrupted her thoughts, Hanah stopped what she was doing and headed to the back of the counter to attend to the customer who had entered. And then the young woman was met with surprising golden eyes, belonging to Linda Watson, one of her sister Monique's best friends, who nervously wandered among the shelves as Hanah watched her intently.
