- “Summer.” I gasped, seeing her lying motionless on the floor. The room was in disarray, with broken glass scattered around her still form. Panic gripped me as I rushed to her side, praying that she was still alive.
- “Summer…” I carried her in my arms, not caring about the glass that pricked in my hand. As I held her close, I felt a faint pulse, and relief flooded through me.
- “What happened?” Hailey asked, her voice filled with concern as she surveyed the room. “Oh my God… Summer,” she stared at the scene in shock, her eyes wide with fear. I shook my head, unable to find the words to explain what had happened.
