• Justin staggered forward, his hand trembling as he pointed the gun at me. Blood streamed down his chest, his shirt soaked through with the evidence of his wounds. His eyes burned with hatred and something darker—triumph. Damn him. How is he still standing after being shot multiple times? My mind screamed at me to move, to react, but my legs stayed rooted. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the worst.
• “You think this ends here, Hollis?” Justin rasped, his voice jagged, faint, yet filled with venom. “You’ve already lost... This is just the beginning.”
