Chapter 54

• Eva donned a red, short gown when she heard that Denzel’s father had been admitted to the hospital and was on life support. If Denzel was still the Denzel she dated then, she knew he’d be shaken. He would need someone by his side, and she wanted to be there for him. He had told her the ugly fate he suffered when his grandfather was placed on life support and eventually died. She knew how hurt he must be. She turned sideways, inspecting herself in front of the mirror. Grabbing a pair of stiletto heels, she placed them under her feet.
• She called Denzel while she worked the lace of the heels up to her lower legs. She stood up, admiring herself.
• “Hello. The distraught voice of Denzel sent her to her phone.”
