Chapter 39
- He twisted and turned, stretching himself as the sunlight cut through his eyelids. He turned away again, trying to go back to sleep, but a ring from the doorbell distracted him again. He sat up immediately, wondering who it could be. It had been a while since he last received a visitor. He knew neither Kim nor Eva would come to his house without prior notice. He quickly checked the time—it was 7:21 a.m. It wasn’t yet time for Lisa, the new maid he had hired, to resume. He had given her an access pass to the house, so there was no need for ringing the doorbell. It rang again, bringing him back to his senses.
- He sluggishly threw on his sleeping robe, which he had hung near his bed, and walked to the door. Just as he opened it, his whole world came alive again. He saw her standing there like the early morning flower that had just blossomed. Even though she had dressed so simply with just a slight makeup, she still looked dazzling—like the goddess of beauty herself. He had never seen her in this light before. He wondered if it was just him or if he missed her so much.
- “Hey, he mouthed nervously.”
