Chapter 27
- Kate sat on the kitchen chair, lost in thought. Her encounter with her boss over the past few weeks had been one hell of an experience—a sweet-bitter experience, she must say. He would always hurt her so much but somehow always found a way to pacify her, making her feel better and forget about the whole issue. He had just promised to take her to her favorite magazine fashion week show. She had always dreamed of attending the runway show of one of the greatest fashion designer companies in America, perhaps even the world, but sadly, she could not afford it.
- Maybe she was beginning to develop a soft spot for him, or perhaps, she was beginning to like him... Hell no! A thunderous reply from her head snapped her out of her thoughts. There was no way in hell she was going to fall for that monster who did nothing but derive joy from hurting her so much. He was such a possessive, rich man who thought everything could be bought with money, including people’s happiness. Falling for him would only end up breaking her heart again. She just couldn’t afford to have her heart broken again—not after what Carlisle had done to her. It had been one of the most painful experiences of her life.
- One minute, you’re planning with that special someone in your life, and the next minute, you’re dumbstruck, wondering where it all went wrong that your heart would be broken without the slightest consideration.
