Chapter 14

• Denzel arrived at the beach house just before noon. It was a sunny afternoon, and everything seemed calm and serene. The beach was tranquil except for the birds that chirped at intervals. He stepped out of the car, took a small bag from the back seat, and headed inside the house. He was going to spend the weekend with his parents at the beach house, something he hated intensely. He had already refused to honor the invitation, but his possessive father needed him to be present. He wanted them to talk about the company and how Denzel had been making progress. Most of the time, Denzel wondered how he managed to survive his parents while growing up. They were just so possessive. Maybe that was why he had refused to live with them.
• “ Mum, Dad. I’m here.” he called out as he made his way into the house, but there was no response.
• “ Mum, Dad? Is anyone home?.” he called out again, but still, there was no response.
