• I knew that voice. It was Pete's voice. Oh no. I turned around and saw him standing by the entrance leading to the hallway I just departed from.
• I should have known he would wait to see who would come out, why didn't I suspect that? I started to think of things to lie with when he asked why I was leaving the hallway that led to his boss's chamber.
