• I had gone back to assure the other kids that they would be okay. I felt the need to, especially after one of them watched her sister get shot. Thankfully, Rhea was there to stop them from witnessing me shoot the man who did it.
• I went on one knee to be able to talk to the sister of the dead girl. She wasn't saying anything so I took out my handkerchief and wiped the blood of her sister off her face.
• I got up from my kneeling position and turned around to meet Mae standing halfway to the car and watching me. I wanted to smile at her but my cheeks felt too heavy to be lifted into a smile at the moment.
