Chapter 15 Negotiating Independence

• "Up to you. Just know when you should let go. You've already experienced a hell of a life with your father. Don't let your life with your husband be the same. Leave immediately if you see that it's not good for you." Mia held my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. I smiled at her because I really appreciated her concern for me.
• Our conversation shifted to our friend Isaac. We heard that he's planning to come home next month. Isaac said he didn't want to miss any gossip about me and my husband.
• I spent the day with Mia. My thoughts wandered, and my feelings lightened. I was so happy that day. It reminded me that I could always be myself with my friends, that I had nothing to hide from them. Among all the people, they were the ones who embraced me without judgment.
