• Laura was interrupted suddenly by her mom's phone ringing. "My mom's calling again, I have to answer this," she said, reaching for her phone on the left. Daniel, showing a mix of anger and curiosity, forced a smile and nodded.
• "Hi Mom," Laura replied calmly. Claudia immediately began to tell Laura how Bryan, her brother, had left the house. "Laura, your brother has left the house," she said. Laura's eyes widened in disbelief. "What?" she exclaimed, feeling confused.
• "What do you mean he left?" Laura asked, dropping her cutlery onto the tray. "We had a disagreement, and he just up and left. Your brother's being so stubborn lately, he's completely out of control, Laura!" Claudia exclaimed, frustration racing through her.
