Chapter 29

• "Daniel! My son," she cried, "I'm glad you're awake. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you. I love you so much."
• Daniel's fingers tightened around his mom's hand, and he looked up at her with a mixture of confusion and concern. He could see the tears streaming down her face, and he realized for the first time just how much she had been through.
• Laura stood to the side, watching the scene unfold. She knew that Daniel was still recovering from his injuries, but she also knew that he was anxious to find out who had stabbed him.
