Chapter 6 Kidnapped
- Marilyn's gaze slowly shifted to the picture frame of she and Brian holding hands in front of a funfair.
- She picked it up, tears dripping onto the picture frame as she bit her lips angrily. Then she did something unexpected which caused everyone to gasped loudly!
- She stood up tall, regained her composure and took out a lighter from her pocket, then she held up the picture frame in front of Ava's and Brian's face as she burned it in front of their eyes. The sadness and heartbroken look in her eyes were washed away, now replaced with anger and fury of their humilation.
- She has finally come to an understanding.
- "We are over," she said strongly. "You and me, shall never cross paths again. I don't want to have anything to do with you either. I don't need your help to survive. I can survive on my own. I, Marilyn Jones don't need to rely on a man like you Brian Marshall for a better future. Enjoy your wedding with your future wife. I wish you a happy weddings and all the best. Who knows, maybe Miss Samson here has other men in her bed to secure her future in case you lose your fortune one day," Marilyn spat at them. She had suddenly found the courage to do so.
- Then she turned away from them with her box of possessions and left, not giving them a chance to refute or scold her. Everyone was left with eyes and jaws open wide at what she had said.
- "You bitch! Get back here!" Ava shouted after her but Marilyn had left. Her voice only echoed through the room, failing to hit Marilyn with more insults. She was dumbstrucked when Marilyn said those words. Everyone was now looking at Ava and she noticed some people are starting to whisper to one another.
- Brian shot a doubtful look at Ava who quickly shook her head, trying to reassure him.
- "No, no, no. It's not true. I only loved you, she's lying. There is no such thing. She's trying to drive a wedge between us. Don't believe her. She's just desperate," Ava wrapped her hands around Brian's arm, trying to pull him into a hug. She hoped that it will soothe his angry nerves.
- Meanwhile, Marilyn left the tall streamline designed building. She was amazed that she managed to find her voice and scolded that shameless couple. She facepalmed herself, reeling in from the shock and disbelief. She had just managed to talk back to the son of the richest billionaire and the daughter of a reputable billionaire! She couldn't believe herself.
- Marilyn had no home to return to because she lost her parents in a car accident and was sent to live with her aunt and uncle. Her aunt and uncle disliked her, having bad blood with her father. Even their daughter and son made fun of Marilyn, finding fault with her and making her life difficult on purpose. So at the age of 16, Marilyn dropped out of school and began working from paycheck to paycheck. She worked her ass off the make ends meet.
- And that's when she met Brian Marshall, a son of a billionaire but she didn't know his status until he revealed it to her a year later. She thought he was her Mr. Right, the person whom she'll spent her life with. She wanted to work hard to earn money to upgrade her status so she'll match with Brian's. She began applying for this job interview and that job interview, hoping to land a position that would promised her a good monthly salary. But very much to her bad luck, no company wanted her.
- So she started working part time jobs in a restaurant, café, at a pet shop where it was easier to get accepted but with low salary $250 per month. That amount wasn't enough to cover everything considering that she needed to pay for transportation and her daily meals. So she would occasionally helped out at Angie's bar, learning new skills and even pole dancing. Marilyn had a strong liking towards dancing, she was a natural dancer but she never danced for anybody so her skills were rusty.
- She did everything for Brian, all her life choices she made and planned, it was all for their future.
- Unfortunately, he was the one who broke their promise and dashed all hopes. Now, she's going to turn 19 years old, broke and homeless. She didn't want to return to her uncle's house nor any of her relatives lest they come scolding and hurling curses at her face. Marilyn couldn't take it anymore; the way her relatives and family treat her like shit when her parents left the world. When her parents were still alive, her uncle and relatives had received a lot of help from her parents. But when they're dead, they discarded the favour without a second thought.
- She began making plans to pay off her debts. Yes, she acquired a lot of debts due to her sick grandmother who later passed away from severe illnesses and chronic heart disease. She had worked so hard but the fruits of her labour wasn't enough. The debts were still high and she currently blames herself for putting too much of her attention on her ex boyfriend when she could have been working another two to three jobs.
- And she had no plans of living off Angie. She knew Angie has her hardships and difficulties, she didn't want to add stress to her only best friend who has been with her through thick and thin.
- She set the box down on the side of the road and begun transferring the things from the box to her bagpack to make it easier for carrying. Once done, she continued on her journey thinking about her next plans.
- Just as she was wandering the streets, deep in thoughts, a black shadow of a car began to follow her from behind, without her noticing it. Some men in suits stepped out, following behind her without her knowing.
