Chapter 5 Don't Give Me That Pitiful Look
- The next morning, Marilyn went to her workplace to take her things with her. She received a message saying that she had been fired. It seems like Brian's words were true, he was over with her. Sadness and anger flushed over her beautiful eyes as she carried a medium-sized box to her cubicle.
- As she began packing, she noticed stares and fingers pointing at him, going about their usual daily gossip. But this time, their words was much more serious and offensive. None of them were discreet, instead one of them said out loud behind her, "Isn't that Brian Marshall's girlfriend who he dumped? What's she doing here?"
- "To pick up her garbage of course. I heard he dumped her and is now engaged to a wealthy woman," one of her colleagues made a mocking sound of tsk tsk tsk.
- "I heard last night she came across him when he was fucking his fiancée. Talk about embarassing!"
- She couldn't believe that Brian or maybe his new future wife told everyone that they had sex. He really made no efforts to push shame onto her when he was the one who did such shameful indecent act.
- Someone began laughing and soon the whole room erupted in laughter. Marilyn's face contorted into rage. How much she wished she could have the strength and courage to slap those bitches.
- "Hey, Marilyn, how was the breakup? I heard you cry," one of the girls called out and again, everyone burst out laughing.
- Marilyn's face turn red with rage as she turned towards the girls. Her body shook with anger as she said, "I suggest you keep your noses to yourself," her voice was on the edge of breaking out.
- "Ooh, look who has guts to say these words. No wonder Brian dumped you and cheated on you, you are nothing but a piece of worthless shit," Moana said, raising her chin up arrogantly.
- "I heard you cause your parents' death. You are a jinx and it's only right if he dumped you, you will spread your bad luck to others," a girl with spectacles crossed her arms and huffed.
- "I didn't cause my parents' death! How dare you bitches talk like this!? He cheated on me first, I have fucking rights too!" Marilyn roared out in anger.
- Crack!
- A loud resounding slap filled the room, causing a brief silence and everyone's eyes to stare at Marilyn.
- Marilyn rubbed her cheeks, tears filled in her brown eyes as the stinging pain of the slap travelled through her entire small body. That slap shocked her to her core that she felt unable to move, still reeling in from the anger and voices around her.
- Standing in front of her was Ava Samson, her ex boyfriend's future wife. She was the one who slapped Marilyn without a second thought.
- "What? Don't give me that look! Don't come here with your pitiful look and expect everyone to feel sympathy towards you. I'm telling you, Brian is my husband and there is nothing wrong with me fucking him. You don't even deserve him. You should return to the streets because that's where you belong. A homeless girl whose relatives don't want to have anything to do with, look how pathetic you are!" Ava crossed her arms and lifted her chin up. She had an air of arrogance around her.
- "Do not insult my parents! You don't even know them!" She managed to say after a moment of silence. Filled with anger and humilation, she raised her hand to deliver a slap to Ava.
- A hand caught her wrist in midair just as her palm was about to make contact with Ava's skin. Ava was unfazed by her actions, instead her eyes were challenging her to try to hit her again. Marilyn looked up and found Brian holding on to her wrist, face twisted in rage and disgust.
- He released her wrist and pushed her away from Ava. Marilyn was shocked stunned at his actions. It seems like he has completely forgotten about their past relationships.
- "Don't touch my future wife with your hands. Your dirty hands will only stain our lives further," he said, his chest heaving up and down as anger coursed through him.
- "What are you saying? She's the one who slapped me first! She even insulted my parents. She -,"
- "Enough! Marilyn! Stop making a fool out of yourself," he barked. Marilyn took a few steps back, mind whirring round and round at what she'd just heard.
- "Don't compare yourself with Ava. Look at her, and then look at yourself. What are you? Who are you?" He asked her cruelly with the intention to shame her in front of so many people. Some of her colleagues started to take out their mobile phones to record the drama. This was interesting. It should go viral aka hashtag IDumpedMyBrokeGirlfriendForMyFutureRichWife.
- Her heart shattered into tiny pieces. This wasn't the Brian she knew for two years. So he has been cheating on her for two years and she had no clue about it? What a fool she must have been, Marilyn just realized the hard truth. She wanted to cry and scream out her anger and frustration but no voice came from within.
- "You are not even fit to slap her, not to mention touch Ava Samson, the daughter of the CEO of Samson Corporations, one of the richest billionaires in this city," he insulted her further.
- "Brian, why?" She said, a hand placed on her chest. She felt a heartache, so this is what it feels like to be lost in love. "Why?" She repeated, feeling hopeless and suddenly worthless at this moment.
- "Just take your shit and go!" He shouted at her face. He was tired of her already and wanted her out of his sight forever.
- He took out something from his jacket pocket and threw it at her face which caused her cheek to have a purplish bruise. But he didn't care about that, no one cared.
