• My mouth dropped open in shock, and for a moment my brain stuttered. Emily had gone to Jayden? Of all the places in the world? Why? Did she seek an anchor in the modeling world once more, or did she realize she couldn't survive alone? If she stayed amongst the werewolves, she would be shunned by all the packs, as no one would be stupid enough to give her shelter in their pack after Alpha Dane took over her pack. But going to Jayden? That was bizarre.
• As I heard Martha sniffling, I took a deep breath in. “I don’t know what to say, Martha,” I said. I couldn’t tell her the main reason Emily ran away. “Maybe you should stand your ground and not allow Jayden to manipulate you.” I genuinely felt sorry for her. She really enjoyed working at the agency and was certainly superior to Jayden in several aspects.
