• “Mommmyyy!” Dave banged open the door of the room and ran to Violet. Thank the goddess, I was wearing boxers and Violet was in her night pajamas. He clambered onto the bed and nestled beside his mother. “Mommy, I missed you!” he said with a pout. “Why did you leave us just like that?”
• Violet had just woken up and was still stretching her limbs. As soon as Dave came next to her, she hugged him tightly and inhaled his scent. “I had to save those two boys,” she said with a smile. “And I am so happy to see you.”
