• She turned her head to the right, and I saw Dave sleeping in Jackson’s arms. Relief washed over me. I took my pup from Jackson. I kissed him and hugged him tightly, feeling better. Violet wanted to take Dave from me. When I didn’t give him to her, she just curled her arms around us and kissed him, crying and laughing at the same time.
