Chapter 5 The Price Family

  • Isaac stiffened all of a sudden, and the desire burning ablaze within him nearly burned his rationality away in that second. An average man's sanity would've long crumbled when they were faced with a bombshell like Fleur.
  • However, Isaac was no average man. His willpower was terrifyingly strong.
  • But alas, it was destined to be a long, torrid, and lonely night.
  • As morning arrived, a gentle breeze blew across the curtains.
  • Fleur moved and shifted toward a warm and secure area before opening her eyes, only to freeze at once, for she discovered she was greedily hugging Isaac's muscular body like an octopus.
  • Her face flushed crimson at once, and what happened last night replayed in her head scene by scene. The vague nightmare became vivid this instant, and she bet she was the one who went to him.
  • Now with the notion in her mind, her face flushed further by the second. She let go of her hand immediately and took a gander at her naked yet undefiled body. As mortified as she was, she was shocked as well.
  • To think that this man didn't even touch me once under such circumstances!
  • As the bell of Kingsburg Film Academy, she knew well how deadly attractive her temperament, body, and face were to a man, or Tom wouldn't have forcefully drugged her the night before.
  • Just how did this guy manage to endure it last night?! Hell, he would've needed crazily strong self-restraint!
  • Fleur looked at Isaac's persevering face and fell into a trance for a long while before she finally got out of bed while wrapped in the bath towel. She put on her clothes, which had been left hanging to dry the whole night, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
  • Meanwhile, Isaac opened his eyes the second she entered the bathroom and put his clothes on.
  • "You're leaving already? Thank you for last night. Uh, why don't I buy you breakfast?" Fleur found a fully dressed Isaac getting ready to leave when she came out of the bathroom.
  • "It's fine. I still have business to attend to. You be careful," Isaac turned down her offer to share breakfast as he made his way to the door, not forgetting to enjoin her as well.
  • "How about you give me your contact then? I'll treat you to a meal some other time. Here, we'll add each other on WhatsApp, or if you prefer to leave your phone number."
  • Fleur could feel that her face would burn still when she looked at his back, so she lowered her head and looked at her toes.
  • Isaac paused his steps upon hearing so and only answered her after a slight hesitation. "I don't have WhatsApp. You write my number down."
  • Just like that, the man gave her his phone number and left.
  • Inside, Fleur looked at the only number on her phone that belonged to a guy in her entire contact list and fell into a slight stupor. She increasingly felt that too many things about that man were inexplicable to her.
  • "Will I ever see you again?"
  • At that, she ran to the window and watched as Isaac hailed a cab and disappeared from her view.
  • Dusk arrived, and the sun scattered its last rays of warm light on the mountains in the west, giving the area a gorgeously golden illusion.
  • Meanwhile, in the Price Residence's dining room…
  • "Slow down. Hey, slow down. You'll choke yourself. Look at yourself—you look like you haven't eaten for a century. I still have your favorite short rib stew in the pot. I'll go and get some for you. When was the last time you were full in the military? Look how famished you are, and you look much skinnier to me than the last time I saw you." A neatly dressed woman with a few well-hidden gray strands in her black hair ached at the sight of Isaac gobbling down his food.
  • "It's not that I'm starving, Mom, but your food is really just that amazing. I swear it's even better than the ones that the celebrity chef made in Kingsize at Kingsburg," mumbled Isaac as he shoved a mouthful of food. The iron-willed aura he had on him vanished the second he entered his home.
  • "Are you even hearing yourself? I thought you had forgotten about your mother when you hadn't come home for so long. Eat slowly while I get your stew. I'll deal with you after you're done!"
  • The woman smacked Isaac on the head before heading into the kitchen. The smack might have looked painful, but it was actually just a light tap.
  • Isaac's mother, Olivia Hurst, was born into a family of doctors, and she herself was a doctor in the military for nearly thirty years.
  • Isaac actually learned most of his medical skills from his mother and maternal grandfather as a kid.
  • "Ouch, Mom, that hurt!" Isaac wailed dramatically.
  • "It hurts, eh? Who's fault is it when you haven't come home for years?!" Olivia knew as well that her dear son was just being dramatic, so she headed into the kitchen after reprimanding him.
  • "Isaac, we've heard about what you did in the military. You did the right thing. Even your mom thought you did a good job this time. If it weren't for you, our 128 fellow Cheilian would've all lost their lives." A middle-aged man with a stern aura pushed his thick glasses up before putting his cup down.
  • He was Isaac's father, Vincent Price, a major-general in military technology currently working in a special military institute.
  • "But Dad, hasn't Mom always been against me joining the army? Does she really think I made the right decision?" Isaac looked up.
  • "Of course. Knowing your mother, do you think you'll be able to eat a feast as soon as you come back?" Vincent pushed his glasses up again.
  • Isaac swallowed the food in his mouth, then suddenly turned around and looked at the hoary elderly sitting upright on the couch with an intimidating, iron-willed aura.
  • The man was none other than Isaac's paternal grandfather, Winston Price.
  • Winston had a pretty colorful past. He grew up poor and participated in the resistance war as well as the civil war. He even became a first-generation member of the Dragon Special Forces after the independence of Cheilia. Having been in the military nearly his whole life, he was a man of integrity and was revered in the military.
  • "Grandpa, is there any way you can help me get back into the military?" Isaac paused eating.
  • Winston was reading the newspaper. He didn't look up, but his hands holding the newspaper quivered for a split second. "Why do you want to go back?"
  • "Abaddon is the one behind this hijacking, and before this, they devised a plan to kill the former leader of the Dragon Special Forces, who also happened to be my mentor!"
  • At that, Winston shot up from his seat. The newspaper in his hands tore apart silently as a wave of iron-willed aura exploded from within his aging body. However, the outburst only lasted for a split second.
  • He took a gander at the kitchen and then shifted his gaze out the window, where the sun had set entirely at this point.
  • Following the sunset, the sky was painted red like a massive ball of fire.
  • Winston, on the other hand, said nothing for a long time.
