Chapter 11 Living Under the Same Roof With a Beauty

  • Following that voice, Mark walked over in a suit.
  • Behind him was a fair-skinned woman with delicate features in a long white dress. She had a born noble aura and an iciness like a glacier. It was Sandra, and she came out after hearing the ruckus too.
  • "Isaac Price!" Sean's mother, Jennifer, looked at Isaac and said in shock.
  • Her hand, which was pulling on Sean's ear, fidgeted from her surprise, making him shout again, "Mom! Let go! Ouch…"
  • He covered his ears when he finally broke free from her grip. Then, he said excitedly, "How is it? Are you surprised? I brought my brother-in-law back!"
  • What? Hearing his words, Mark, Jennifer, and Sandra were all shocked. Why is Sean with Isaac?
  • Other than shock, there was delight on Mark and Jennifer's faces. On the contrary, Sandra frowned slightly. She was seemingly not satisfied with that title.
  • "Hehe…" Sean had seemingly imagined this scene earlier. When he saw their reactions, he couldn't hold back his smile. After all, he was shocked when he met Isaac as well.
  • However, since Mark and Jennifer had seen the elephant, they reacted right away. "Long time no see, Isaac. You've grown so much! You look a lot more mature and sedate."
  • She tugged on Isaac's arm and studied him from top to bottom. Then, a flash of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. "Don't just stand at the door—come in."
  • As soon as she said that, she dragged Isaac into the house. Without waiting for him to answer, she asked, "Why are you with this b*stard?"
  • "Mom, it's a long story. Let me tell you; we met each other on a train. Isaac is really good, and he used one move to end two shameless and arrogant Kusweinians…" When Sean talked about the incident on the train, he couldn't suppress his excitement. His eyes were filled with admiration when he looked at his brother-in-law.
  • On the side, Isaac just smiled and didn't say anything.
  • When Mark and Jennifer heard the story, they were surprised, and at the same time, their satisfaction with their future son-in-law grew as well.
  • Likewise, the frown on Sandra's face relaxed a little. Although she didn't like Isaac fighting, she also felt that the two Kusweinian students deserved a beating.
  • At this moment, the sky had turned completely dark. It was already time for dinner, and the Sullivans had already prepared the meal. While they were at the dining table, Mark and Jennifer asked Isaac some questions again.
  • Isaac answered them all in a humble and kind manner. From his actions and words, there was a matureness and a unique aura of a soldier.
  • Meanwhile, Sandra hadn't said a word since earlier on. Although she looked noble and cold on the outside, she was feeling strange inside. Why is this man so different from the gangster that I remember? Has he really been reformed into another person by the military, just like what Dad said?
  • In the end, she didn't have an answer to her questions.
  • "By the way, Isaac, since you just arrived in Dunrey and are not familiar with places around here, I already told your mother to let you stay here for the time being. Since you're a school doctor, you can go to work with Sandra. It will be very convenient for you. Sean will stay here occasionally too," Mark said after dinner.
  • When Sandra heard that, there was an obvious reluctance on her face. However, she didn't say anything since she didn't want to put her parents in a difficult position.
  • At the same time, Isaac noticed the change in her expression.
  • "Okay, it's getting late already. Your father and I should head back now. Get along with Sean and Sandra tonight. You young people should have many things to talk about." Jennifer seemed a little tired. After giving Mark a signal and bidding goodbye, they left in a low-profile, luxurious car that was waiting at the front of the door.
  • "Isaac, I'll show you to your room!" As soon as his parents left, Sean brought Isaac into a room that was already prepared. Yet, just as they entered the room, Sandra, who hadn't said a word since just now, came to knock on the door and invited Isaac to the study room.
  • Seeing that, Isaac could already guess her intention. Thus, he followed her after a nod.
  • When Sean saw the two of them going to the study room together, a strong nosiness flashed in his eyes. He walked sneakily to the front of the study room and pressed his ear against the door.
  • Meanwhile, in the study room, she was looking at this man in front of her, who looked familiar yet strange. After getting her emotions together, she said, "This marriage promise was set by the elders. In this generation of free love, do you think a marriage promise is reasonable?"
  • "No." Isaac smiled.
  • At this moment, he was also studying his fiancée. After a few years of not seeing her, she had become more beautiful. Also, on his way here just now, he had briefly come to know that his fiancée was a well-known person in the entire country, let alone Dunrey.
  • Sandra was not only a lecturer at Dunrey Business School but also a director of the Griffinaid Group.
  • Other than that, she had another identity that made all the youngsters of Cheilia in the business industry jealous; she was a protégé of a highly-respected expert in the economic sector.
  • In Dunrey, men with ordinary status weren't even qualified to pursue her. She was chic, noble, and aesthetically appealing. Most men would feel inferior from the bottom of their hearts when they saw her.
  • "I just don't want to let my parents be in a difficult position, so I didn't reject this engagement directly, but this doesn't mean that I'll agree to it. Do you understand?" Sandra clarified.
  • With a calm expression, Isaac said, "Yes. I was forced by my family to come here too. We can try interacting with each other for some time, and if we still don't have feelings for each other, we can say that we're not suitable for each other after a while to annul this engagement. I believe that the opposition from both sides will not be too strong."
  • His gaze while looking at Sandra was so calm as though he was just looking at an ordinary person.
  • When Sandra heard that, she was stunned for a moment. In fact, she had already prepared her words and even thought about threatening him to ask him to give up this engagement. Yet, their conversation was going so smoothly that Isaac even suggested a way to end this engagement. All of this was unexpected, and she was starting to have second thoughts.
  • Does this engagement mean nothing in his eyes? Am I so unattractive to him?
  • At the same time, she realized that there was no flutter in his eyes.
  • Among all the men she had met, they would either feel inferior the moment they saw her, or they would have that disgusting, feverish stare when looking at her. Yet, there was nothing in Isaac's eyes. It was as though he was looking at an ordinary person.
  • Is he still the lewd gangster named Isaac in my memory? At this moment, she couldn't see through Isaac.
  • "I will give you some compensation." Sandra felt strange, thinking that it might be guilt. Thus, she suggested doing so.
  • "It's fine. Well, I'll be heading out if there's nothing else." He smiled and stood up, walking to the door. Then, his actions came to a halt and he turned to look at Sandra before saying sincerely, "I deeply apologize for the disrespectful things that I did to you when I was young and delirious."
  • When Sandra heard that, her body trembled slightly, and she looked like she wanted to say something. In the end, she just looked at him blankly while he left the study room.
