Chapter 1 You Want to Be My Mommy? Fat Chance!

  • "Baby, you're so sweet…"
  • In the dark, the man's husky voice echoed into Violet's ears.
  • The woman kneeled with sprawled-out hands on the bed, and a black silk band was over her eyes.
  • After her vision was taken away, the other senses in her body heightened, and she cowered at that dull pain.
  • It was utterly dark, and all she could feel was his rampant pillage behind her.
  • "Come on, let's change to a different position."
  • Violet's eyes popped open suddenly, and her forehead was covered in a film of cold sweat.
  • It's been five years. Why am I still having this dream? she wondered, holding her hot, bright cheeks.
  • She got up and washed her face in the bathroom, the cold water waking her up instantly. Then, she picked up a glass and went downstairs to get some water.
  • "I refuse! I don't want to marry that old freak! Everyone knows that the third master from the Turner Family is old and ugly! Almost no woman in the entire Rockerson town has the nerve to marry him. Five years ago, after he became disfigured because of the burn injuries, he became psychologically depraved, and I heard that he had already tortured two women to death! I'll never marry him!"
  • In the living room, the woman continued to shriek, "Furthermore, it should be Violet who should marry into that family. She's no longer some innocent girl, anyway, and she has already given birth. She has plenty of experience and has nothing to lose if she marries that freak!"
  • "Sally!" Steven Walt stopped her sternly. "Violet is your elder sister!"
  • Sally gritted her teeth and almost burst into tears as she yelled, "Dad, your biological daughter is me, and Violet Walt is merely a b*stard you accidentally brought home back then! I lived eighteen years of my life in poverty in her place. Finally, I returned to the Walt Family and have my own career now. You can't force me to marry someone!"
  • "She's right," Lacey Bates quickly chirped next to them. "Sally has already made a name for herself in the business world, and she's our pride and joy. How can we sacrifice her? Furthermore, we've raised her for twenty-three years. It's about time for her to repay us."
  • The conversation came to a pause, and all three of them raised their heads simultaneously, staring at Violet, who was standing on the second floor.
  • Violent held the glass tightly, and her knuckles turned white. She knew what their unspoken words were; they would like to have an alliance through marriage with the Turners but didn't want to sacrifice Sally, so they planned to offer her up instead.
  • She inhaled deeply as she descended the staircase and extended her hand to Steven. "Agreement."
  • "What agreement?" he asked in puzzlement.
  • "There should at least be a written agreement if you want me to repay your kindness by taking Sally's place. Otherwise, if you force me to commit heinous crimes using this same reason, should I do it as well?"
  • Her words stunned all of them.
  • "You're not going to write it?" She ignored their gaping faces as she grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Then, she wrote a few sentences by herself and signed them with a flourish. "It's done. You guys can stop acting now. I'll marry him," she said and went into the kitchen for some water before going upstairs.
  • Sally dashed over and picked up the note, which was written clearly in black and white, 'I, Violet Walt, will marry instead of Sally Walt to pay back all the kindness for the past twenty-three years, and we're even.'
  • This went so smoothly that it was unbelievable.
  • Sally raised her head as she stared at Violet's back as she went upstairs, muttering, "Mom, do you think Violet has lost her mind? She agreed to the marriage just like that. Is she going to abandon her boyfriend?"
  • Lacey quickly covered Sally's mouth and turned in Violet's direction, worried that she would take back her words.
  • Honestly, Violet had heard everything, but she didn't say anything in retort as she smiled bitterly. It was true that just two days ago, she had a boyfriend of six years who was willing to give everything for her, but not anymore.
  • To her, marrying someone was just a change of residency, which made no difference to her life.
  • Three days later, Violet was brought to the Turners.
  • The man didn't register the marriage with her immediately but wanted her to move into the villa before making a decision.
  • In other words, even though not many women in Rockerson dared to marry the third master of the Turner Family, he wouldn't marry just anyone, either.
  • The instruction given by Steven to Violet was: Please Mr. Turner so that he would marry her and fund the Walt Enterprise.
  • At night, Violet sat quietly in the bedroom, waiting for that man to arrive.
  • Pop!
  • Along with the sound of a loud pop, the villa turned completely dark suddenly—the power was out.
  • Her body started trembling out of reflex because she was deathly afraid of the dark!
  • After that night five years ago, she no longer dared to face the dark alone. Even when she went to bed, she could only relax when there was a night light next to her bed.
  • She was currently in a new, unfamiliar environment. So, of course, she was feeling more than a little nervous, but she never thought she would be so unlucky to experience a blackout!
  • She instinctively hugged her knees and trembled in the darkness. It was so traumatizing for her that she didn't even realize that someone had opened the bedroom door.
  • In the darkness, something brushed against her foot and covered her hand. Then, something sticky and cold kept stroking her hand.
  • All of a sudden, she turned pale, and it felt as though her blood had frozen in her veins.
  • She jumped backward with a shriek until her back was knocked into the cold, hard wall, which resulted in her feeling pain so sharp that she almost passed out.
  • But in the dark, that lump of unidentified creature started to crawl toward her.
  • Deep and croaky, his voice reminded her of the sound of a creaking door. "My wife… Honey… I'm your husband…"
  • When the words reached her ears, all the lights in the room turned on suddenly with a loud pop, and she could finally see clearly what was the 'clump' in front of her—a man with horrifying looks!
  • Maybe it couldn't be considered a man because his body was hunched over like a dwarf, and even his arms and legs were a black heap with indistinguishable joints.
  • The man was wrapped in a bathrobe as he sprawled on the side of the bed, staring at her with eyes like black holes.
  • And his face could no longer be called a face anymore. It was crisscrossed in various scars, and his facial features were so distorted that his face looked like a devil that had crawled out of Hell!
  • "Ah!"
  • Even though Violet had mentally prepared herself before this, she still couldn't stop herself from screaming when the weird creature in front of her started to beckon her.
  • The man started chuckling as he croaked, "My dear, why are you screaming? Are you afraid of me? But you already agreed to marry me…"
  • Violet almost lost the last strand of her sanity as she scrambled out of bed and ran out, shaking like a leaf and not daring to turn back to take another look at that man!
  • She was in such a panic that she didn't even realize that she had scraped her leg against the flowerpot in the hallway. Unfortunately, her injury also worsened in her haste to get away as blood slowly trickled down the wound.
  • "Ha-ha!"
  • As he watched Violet disappear into the hallway, the 'man' on the bed climbed out of the bathrobe and took off the gloves and mask to reveal a clean, adorable face of a toddler. "You want to be my mommy? Fat chance!"
  • He jumped off the bed and trotted into a small study in excitement. "Dan, I scared another one away!"
  • In the small study, another small boy with identical looks was reading under the light. "Okay."
  • The little fella was unhappy, and he plopped himself into the chair. "Will you pay more attention to Daddy? He doesn't like any contact with women, but Grandpa kept planning all these future wives for him. This is already the third one."
  • The other little boy merely raised his brows dispassionately. His entire demeanor made him appear more mature than the age of his palm-sized face. "Okay."
  • The little fella was speechless. Although his elder brother was a genius, he was always aloof to people and rarely spoke, just like their father. Both of them were complete bores!
  • Finally, he pouted as he darted to the big study on the third floor and pushed the door open with his tiny body. "Mr. Henry Turner, your third fiancée is not very impressive, either!"
