Chapter 30 How Cheap!

• Apart from the howling wind, the silent atmosphere was filled with nothing else but Violet's heavy breathing. Soon, she heard a notification alert from her phone and realized her battery was running low. Stunned, she immediately turned off the flashlight as she was hoping to call Hailey with all the battery power that was left. However, as soon as she dialed the number, her phone screen went black.
• Damn it, my phone just died! In that instant, Violet found herself enveloped in the darkness, her heart beating so fast that she felt as if it was going to pop out of her chest. At the same time, the eerie silence and darkness around her felt like a beast that was going to devour her due to her nyctophobia. Therefore, she hopelessly stared at the moon outside the window, screaming for help frantically, "Help! Is there somebody there? Help! Can somebody hear me?"
• Violet repeatedly thumped the door in an attempt to create some noise, but despite her effort, the commotion didn't manage to attract anyone's attention. In the end, she sat down behind the door, leaning on it in despair while her shoulder started to throb in pain due to the wound on it.
