Chapter 8 A Reunion
- Thea kept the racing car models away and rubbed the top of her son's head. "You wait here for me for a while. Don't run around; I'm going to the restroom."
- "Okay, my queen!" Wearing the sunglasses he loved so much, Rowan saluted to Thea. Amused, she turned around to go to the restroom.
- Unexpectedly, at the corner of the corridor outside the restroom, she bumped into a person head-on.
- "Sorry..."
- A smell of GrandExtrait's cape jasmine perfume came to her nose, and Thea's nose just happened to itch a little. At the moment she apologized, she couldn't help but sneeze. Although she covered her mouth in time, the spittle still splashed on the other party.
- Embarrassed, Thea hurriedly apologized with a red face. Honestly, she had not smelled this perfume for a long time. Before the Stratford Family went bankrupt, she loved this collector's edition the most because it was luxurious and exquisite. However, now she preferred to go natural instead.
- "What's wrong with you? Don't you even have eyes?" Cordelia looked at her haute couture dress that was stained with spit and admonished, "Do you know that my dress... Thea?"
- As Thea pulled out a wet wipe to wipe the corner of her mouth, she suddenly recognized the woman before her as Cordelia Stratford. The woman was wearing the latest Gucci dress and crystal heels while carrying a limited-edition Hermes handbag. They were all bejeweled and luxurious.
- The Stratford Family was also one of the four largest families in Trentworth City, but Kay was only from a side branch, while Cordelia was a daughter of the main family. The two were also in the same class at university, and although they were family, their relationship was lukewarm at most.
- Since Kay escaped four years ago, Thea had not seen even one of the Stratfords. After all, they would only rub salt into her wound instead of lending her a hand.
- However, she never thought she would meet Cordelia.
- Cordelia looked up and down at Thea's plain dress without even a piece of luxury jewelry. Other than her slightly good looks, Thea would not stand out from the crowd. Cordelia’s aggressiveness instantly diminished as she showed an elegant smile and tried to reach out for Thea's hand.
- "I almost can't believe this is really you! It’s been four years, yet you’ve never contacted us. Moreover, I heard that Sebastian had also broken off the engagement with you. Are you now living well?"
- It was just a few casual sentences, and she did not mock Thea, but between the lines, there was a clear sense of superiority. Thea was used to hearing these words four years ago, and there were many more who said even more blunt and unpleasant words than Cordelia's.
- Thus, she indifferently tucked her hair around her ear and said lightly, "I'm doing fine, thanks for your concern."
- "If you need any help, you can come to me. I won't mind."
- Tsk, as if I would live like a stray dog without the Stratford Family? Thea smiled before saying in a confident and frank manner, "Yes, if you need anything, you can also come to me for help."
- The smile at the corner of Cordelia's mouth froze. "You're joking, right? What can you do for me?"
- "Then, do I have to pay for this dress?"
- "No, it only cost a million. I donated more than that to the welfare association."
- "How nice to have money to do charity. Old Mr. Stratford must be very happy." Thea smiled and pointed to the restroom. "I'm in a bit of a hurry, so I'll go in first. I'll contact you later when I have time."
- Cordelia looked in the direction Thea left, then snorted. Lowering her eyes to look at the soiled dress on her body, she was immediately filled with disgust.
- But it was still quite fun to see Thea, once known as the campus belle, reduced to a joke.
- ...
- At the same time as Thea and Cordelia met by chance, Rowan also met a man who had been away for many years. At first, Rowan was bored waiting for Thea, so he wandered around the children's clothing section. Across a row of shelves, a sweet conversation was heard from across the shop.
- "Honey, do you think our baby will be a boy or a girl?"
- The man wrapped his arm around the woman's waist, and his sexy voice was full of indulgence. "I like both boys and girls as long as they are ours."
- "What a smooth tongue you have." The woman pouted and lightly punched the man's sturdy chest. "The Jennings Family is now developing well, so your mother would definitely prefer a boy to inherit the family business..."
- Rowan shivered.
- How cheesy adults are!
- He was about to leave when he inadvertently saw the couple’s faces through the gap between the hem of the clothes. Seeing them, he stumbled and almost fell because the man turned out to be Sebastian Jennings, his father.
- Since he could remember, he had asked about his father. Not wanting to deceive him, plus the fact that he was so intelligent, Thea told him about Sebastian. When Rowan learned that it was Sebastian who didn't want him, he bit his lip; he didn't want that old man either and only needed Thea.
- Rowan’s eyes shifted, and he pursed his mouth in disgust before he decided to leave, but at this moment, his phone rang. When he checked it, he realized that it was a spam message. However, this sound had alerted Sebastian and Julie Morris.
- "Who is it?" Sebastian thought someone was secretly filming them, so he pushed the shelves aside and caught Rowan's arm. To his surprise, it was just a small boy. Feeling the pain, Rowan struggled and shouted, "Let go of me!"
- He was beginning to hate this old man!
- "Sebastian, this boy looks like you." Julie walked over in a daze, lost in thought, as she stared at Rowan’s face that quite resembled Sebastian’s.
- At this moment, Sebastian also noticed that and asked, "Whose child are you?"
- Rowan tightened his small fists. Thinking of Sebastian’s abandonment and betrayal of Thea, he immediately looked aggrieved and said, “Daddy, you have not paid alimony for four years. Mommy really had no other way, so she asked me to come to you..."
- Alimony?
- Julie's eyes widened.
- Sebastian’s grip increased in strength as he tugged at Rowan's wrist. "Say it again!"
- "Sob! Although Mommy was only a maid in your family, must you be so ruthless? In order to be with this beautiful girl, you drove us out of the house and didn't care. Now I can't even afford to pay my school fees. Miss, we really can't live..."
- The little one was all red-eyed as he choked on his words, not at all aware of what a storm these words had set off between Julie and Sebastian. The expression on Julie's face stiffened.
- Is this child Sebastian’s illegitimate son?
- She was the most important woman of the side branches of the Morris Family, so in recent years, she was also in the limelight, and there were many young men interested in pursuing her. Now that she had agreed to be with Sebastian, he turned out to have an illegitimate child!
- "Julie, don't listen to his nonsense. I don't have such a son, and I’ve never had sex with the maid." Sebastian looked at Rowan fiercely. "He's sneaky, so he must have bad intentions!"
- As he spoke, his veins pulsed on his forehead, and he fiercely questioned Rowan, "Tell me, who is your mother? What are you trying to do by following me and taking pictures?”
- "I told you to let go. You’re hurting me!" Rowan felt the pain course through him, and his face tensed up. He no longer pretended to be soft and delicate, while his dislike for the man rose to an all-time high.
- He was furious that he was actually the child of this old man. Lowering his head, he bit on Sebastian’s wrist.
- “Ow!” Sebastian drew in a sharp breath, flinging his hand and shoving Rowan away. With that, Rowan stumbled backward and toppled over. When Julie saw this, she subconsciously wanted to catch him, but another figure was faster.
- It was none other than Thea who had come back from the restroom.
