Chapter 4 Young Master Benedict Is Missing
- "I want chicken wings," the boy coldly instructed the driver.
- The driver had a difficult expression on his face; he had received the order to accompany Benedict Jennings to wait here for Ethan Jennings. "But Young Master Ethan said he will come over soon, so, Young Master Benedict, you—"
- "Five minutes." The boy raised his right wrist and pointed to his wristwatch. "If I don't see my chicken wings, you will go to Gregory to settle the balance of your wages."
- The driver's awkwardness turned into panic at once. He knew very well that Benedict always did what he said he would.
- "Young Master Benedict, then you stay here. Don't run around; I'll be right back…" the driver hurriedly reminded the boy, then carefully locked the door and rushed to the nearest fried chicken store.
- What the driver did not know was that after he left, the little boy sitting in the Bentley had skillfully unlocked the car with his eyes fixated on the mother and son duo in the distance. In fact, his heart was beating violently, as if there was a strong omen of something important.
- Then, the young boy quietly followed them, keeping a short but safe distance from them. Soon, he saw them enter Golden Sun Kindergarten. He was tempted to follow them in but noticed the strict scrutiny of the security guard. Staring with a pair of deep eyes under his short, fine hair, the boy looked around and quickly found a corner to hide.
- ...
- Five minutes later, two blocks away from Golden Sun Kindergarten around the corner, the driver rushed back after finally buying the chicken wings.
- "Young Master Benedict, the chicken wings that you…"
- Before all the words left his mouth, the driver's expression cracked inch by inch.
- What did he see? He actually saw that the car that Benedict was supposed to be in was empty!
- Oh no, where is the young master?
- As the chicken wings fell to the ground, the driver began to search around in a panic. After some time, he still found no trace of Benedict after searching through all the streets in the neighborhood.
- At that moment, the phone in his pocket rang.
- Seeing the caller ID on the screen, a wave of despair swept over the driver. He opened his mouth, his lips trembling as he said, "Y-Young Master Ethan?"
- ...
- Very soon, the black Porsche engine turned off after it arrived at the location where Benedict disappeared, and the car door was pushed open.
- A pair of shiny and expensive leather shoes first stepped on the ground, and then a man's upright figure came into sight. He had handsome and angular features, as well as deep and sharp eyes that were hard to ignore. There was not a single crease on his well-cut suit.
- With his arrival, the air around him became cold. He was like a king on a high pedestal, looking down on all things present. "Where is the boy?" Ethan indifferently demanded to know.
- His voice was raspy and sexy, like the sound of a cello, only it was flooded with coldness.
- "Young Master Ethan, I'm sorry." The driver's face was pale as he lowered his head out of guilt, his limbs shivering as he explained, "Young Master Benedict asked me to buy some chicken wings, but when I came back, he had disappeared..."
- One of the bodyguards analyzed the situation and made a wild guess. "Could he have been kidnapped?"
- "But his whereabouts have always been kept secret as well..." Saying that, the other bodyguard glared in suspicion at the driver.
- The driver sensed the bodyguard's suspicion and shook his head vehemently. "It's not me; I really don't know anything..."
- Ethan looked at the car and found the door intact. In fact, there was no trace of it having been pried open, and the things and objects belonging to Benedict were also neatly placed on the back seat, according to the boy's usual habits. Therefore, he had likely got off on his own initiative.
- On the side, Ethan's personal bodyguard Dylan Murphy wrinkled his eyebrows and said with worry, "Young Master Ethan, I’ve just checked, and this location happens to be a blind spot for the surveillance cameras, which means that the young master is likely to have gone in any direction..."
- The eagle-like eyes of Ethan swept around and glanced at the road leading to the direction of Golden Sun Kindergarten. There, he found a piece of candy wrapper that had fallen to the ground.
- It was a niche luxury brand of candy that Benedict had always liked, and it was hard to buy it in Trentworth City.
- Seeing this, the man had his pupils narrowed slightly...
- ...
- Meanwhile, when Thea brought Rowan back to the kindergarten, she was quite worried that he would be unhappy and deliberately anger the teacher. Still, she did not expect Rowan to put on his best behavior.
- Turning on all his charms, Rowan smiled and flattered the teacher like an aristocratic gentleman, easily capturing the hearts of anyone who set eyes on the child. Therefore, the kindergarten teacher was full of praise for him and complimented him on his cuteness.
- Then, Rowan secretly winked at Thea, showing a smug little expression. It was as if he was declaring that as long as he wanted, they would all like him!
- Seeing this scene playing out before her, Thea did not know what to say.
- After finalizing Rowan’s admission, she hurried back to the office. After all, she only came out for an hour, so if she said something nice to Jocelyn, she might be able to keep her full attendance. Thinking this way, Thea ran faster on her feet.
- However, she did not pay attention, and while rounding the corner of the street, she collided head-on into a warm and robust chest. At that moment, pain shot through her shoulder, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the side, and her bag fell to the ground.
- Struggling to hold on to the railing, Thea stood up and looked to the side. It was a tall man who looked quite strong, but he did not even pause to look at her and simply walked away in a hurry.
- Originally, it was not a big deal, but the way he treated her as if she was transparent made her so angry that she reacted faster than her brain and yanked him by the wrist before he could walk out of her reach.
- "Stop right there! Are you just going to walk away?" Isn’t he going to apologize after colliding with me?
