Chapter 44
- He brought out a small remote from his pockets, pressed on it, and before my eyes, the round table slanted inwardly and the water rose a bit. I wanted to bolt again but I didn't. I dropped my puppy and she cowered against the wall turning her back to me, "Come." I whispered willing her to follow me but she whined and turned her back at me again, "Coward!" I hissed.
- "Bring the bag." He said when I attempted to pull it off my shoulder. I did as he instructed and even after taking the slowest steps I could muster, I still found myself before him.
- He collected the bag, dropped it on the floor and face me, his eyes narrowed into slits while he stared me down and I felt too small before him.
