• "I am going to drop you, hard." Orian whispered, "When I do, roll dramatically like you are hurt and reach into my boots. Pull out a knife and go to the castle, through the back entrance. Don't look back and if anyone should accost you, kill them."
• He didn't give me time to absorb his instructions. I was released and I landed on the grass with a thud. I did as he requested, as fast as I could. I got it out, jumped to my feet, and grabbed puppy Orian before making my way toward the castle.
