Chapter 6 I’m Out of Your League

  • All these years, Craig was treating James well; even if he really owed him his life now, Jenny should not be the one enjoying James’ contribution now. Craig stared outside of the window, and he said, "Do you think that I’ll agree to her request? I hate greedy women like her!" He showed great disgust when he said it.
  • Eddy was silent for a while, and he responded, "Mr. Ramirez, you’re always correct."
  • After a while, he replied, "I’m just feeling sorry for James."
  • Eddy was having the same thoughts as Craig, as James had been working alongside him for years. He knew how much he loved Jenny when he was alive. And now, this woman wanted to marry Craig and be the lady boss of the Bondion Group! It was such an irony! Suddenly, Eddy laughed mockingly, and he said, "Judging by this, Ms. Chavez is actually the better candidate to be your wife." Craig stared at him with deadly intent at his comment, and he subconsciously stepped harder on the accelerator.
  • In the Ramirez manor, Gloria got out of the car and saw someone with slender legs get off the Maybach opposite her. She totally ignored him and walked into the manor. She did not expect that he actually pulled her collar from behind, and she was lifted off the ground. Her neck was in pain. She could see his cold face getting nearer, and he asked coldly, "Why are you running away from me? Did you do something wrong?"
  • Gloria was suffocated by him, and she glared at him. If I were to do something wrong, you'd be unworthy for me to wrong you! You’re disgusting!
  • She wanted to say it out loud, but she suppressed her anger; she knew that she could not enrage him anymore. If not, she would be dead with her baby inside her!
  • "I didn’t see you; I have shortsightedness." She simply came up with an excuse, and it was obvious that he did not believe her.
  • When he was in the hospital with Jenny, he accidentally saw her at the corner near them. He was not sure if she was there by coincidence or if she loved to eavesdrop. So he decided to test her. If she really likes to eavesdrop, I’ll stop this bad habit of hers!
  • He was really close to her, and he could smell her fragrant body. Why does she smell so familiar?
  • When she was thinking of ways to ask him to let go, he suddenly leaned in close to her, and he smelled her fair and pale neck. "A… Ah!"
  • She pushed him away, and she glared at him alertly. She snorted: "What are you trying to do? You pervert!" She shouted so loudly that the echoes were lingering in the front yard. Her words were piercing through him, and his face was turning colder. This ugly woman can always get on my nerves!
  • Looking at her blushed face and also recalling her smell... He was getting deeper into his thoughts. He wanted to make sure that Gloria’s smell was the same as the woman's the other day, and her yells sounded familiar to her. Could she be the one who drugged me the other night?
  • He snorted as he was still thinking and moved his legs to distance himself from her.
  • Gloria felt that he was grabbing hard on her chin all of a sudden, as if he could break anything.
  • He looked down and warned her mockingly, "Do you think that I would go after a woman like you? As for you, I’m out of your league. You better stay away from me; if not, I’ll use your meat to feed my dogs." He walked away after saying all of these things to her.
  • If she was really the woman on that night, I'm sure that she has other partners in crime.
  • I want to make sure that all the investigations are going smoothly before exposing the truth. It was so obvious that the woman the other night was Gloria. I’ll be sparing her life at the moment.
  • Looking at him going away, she leaned on the side of the car door, and she was breathing hard. Smelling him made her recall that night; all these impeccable memories were flowing back at her. What… What else did he say just now? He thought that I was into him. Ha. ha! I won’t like him, not now or in the future.
  • Craig walked past the living room and trotted into his studies. He made a phone call to Eddy and said, "Investigated, what were Gloria’s whereabouts the other night? I want it to be detailed.
  • Eddy thought he heard wrong, and he asked, "Is Ms. Chavez related to your car accident?"
  • "Don’t ask so much! Just investigate her!" Craig said in a lowered tone.
  • On the ground floor, Craig’s mood had actually affected everyone’s mood. His uncle and auntie were back at the Ramirez manor, and Maria had requested the chef make a table of delicious food. Maria wanted to have dinner with Gloria in the first place. She did not expect Craig to be moody and ignore everyone else.
  • "Mom, what’s wrong with Craig? Ever since he woke up, nothing has been in peace." Elsa Ramirez complained. She was dissatisfied with him for a long time. And once he had woken up, he demoted her husband’s position in the company, so she exaggerated this event.
  • "Maybe he was not pleased at getting an ugly wife? But it was true that his wife was unpresentable." Rose Miller, Craig’s uncle's wife, also commented on this matter. Maria did not care about their family that much, yet she was treating the ugly woman so well! She was jealous and furious.
  • Maria’s face darkened, and she said warningly to Rose, "Stop talking nonsense! Gloria will be home soon; how sad will she be if she hears this?"
  • Elsa loved to create drama; she glanced over at the entrance and said, "Wow! The new member of our family is here; this is why we shouldn’t talk behind people’s backs!" Everyone glanced in the same direction.
  • Gloria had heard everything, yet she remained calm and greeted everyone. "Nice to meet you all; I’m back."
  • Maria happily dragged her to sit beside her, and it was obvious that Maria cherished her a lot. Elsa and Rose were envious of her.
  • "Look at you! You’re so much slimmer; you must have it hard when you’re looking after your father. C’mon, drink this soup!"
  • Gloria looked at the bowl of soup, and she thought her baby needed nutrition, so she thanked Maria. "Thank you, grandma." She picked up the spoon to drink. Suddenly, she thought of something and said, "Auntie Rose, congratulations!"
  • Rose was taken aback, and she asked, "What was it for?"
  • "You’re about to be a grandma! I saw Cole in the hospital with a teenage girl the other day. The girl was crying as she’s pregnant with his child, and she wants him to cancel his marriage to marry her." Rose was always secretly bullying her for the past month; she was busy taking care of Craig, so she did not have the time to tackle her.
  • There was total silence at the dining table. Everyone knew that Cole Ramirez had a marriage agreement with the daughter of the Campbell family, yet he was always having affairs with women, now that he even impregnated an underage girl. His action would definitely bring shame to the family.
