Chapter 10 You Can’t Bring Your Father Away
- It was obvious that her dramatic conversation with Craig was heard by him. Gloria would definitely bury herself in a hole if there was one now! She blushed and said, "Why didn’t you mention that there’s a guest here? I’m going out!" And she ran away with all her might.
- Craig looked at her, and he did not know how to react; he was neither angry nor happy.
- "Do women like to accuse people first?" He helplessly asked Hayden Davis.
- Hayden stopped looking at the door, and he shrugged. He had no idea, as he had not had a girlfriend yet. "Craig, it seems like you’re getting along with her." Hayden jokingly said
- Craig snorted, "Do you really think so?"
- Hayden slowly refilled his red wine and answered, "You’d never tolerated any woman like this before." The both of them were best friends for seven years. Hayden knew Craig well, and he knew that Craig would spare any woman who bulged into his room. "What’s more, she’s the one that injured your hand, right?" Hayden looked at his bite mark.
- Craig was someone who was very revengeful; he might murder an entire family for the tiniest thing. And it was strange for him to be calm when his hand was bitten. Craig casually played with his wine glass and remained silent. He tolerated Gloria because he misunderstood her, and he would never spare her again.
- After a while, Hayden reminded him by saying, "Since you've got a lover now, it’s easier to deal with Jenny now." He just got to know that Jenny threatened Craig to marry her. Craig could have rejected her with countless methods, and he could easily teach her a lesson for having such an unrealistic intention. Yet, the best way to solve this issue was to actually tell her off. As he was happily married to his wife, it was impossible for him to divorce Gloria and marry her.
- Craig’s face crumpled when he heard her name. He had already taken some action to get back at her. Jenny’s best friend was being blacklisted by every company in Xana City; no one would ever hire her. This was his warning to Jenny: he would be crucified if she continued to play tricks on him.
- Even so, her case was still troublesome to him. Craig thought about Jenny and Gloria. Eddy came back to him, reporting that Gloria had not entered the Ignite Hotel the night of his car accident. She was not the one drugging him; he overthought. So Hayden’s suggestion was actually workable. He could temporarily let Gloria stay, and it could make Jenny back off. At the same time, his grandmother would be happy with it and stop nagging him. After all, he was never lacking in money, so it would not be hard for him to provide for Gloria.
- On the other hand, Gloria went back to her room, and her heart was beating fast. That man didn’t recognize my voice, right? I’d always covered my face with a mask in Loungeadora, so he’d never seen my face at all.
- She lay against the door frame, and she could feel the icy feeling from it; it was reminding her to wake up. She was never in the same world as that man, so she should not care if he recognized her or not. And it seemed like he was very close to Craig; she did not want to have anything with the Ramirez family after she left.
- Just when she was deep in her thoughts, her phone rang. Looking at the caller, she straight away answered it. "Emily." Emily Smith was her best friend; they had known each other since high school.
- "Gloria, tell me truthfully, did you get into trouble? Why was someone investigating you? My cousin said that his system detected that a hacker was looking at the surveillance footage of the Ignite Hotel, and he was looking at the recording of that night!"
- She was shocked, but she did not need to guess who it was; it must be Craig! After overhearing Craig’s conversation the other day, she secretly called Emily to do her a favor. She asked her hacker cousin to erase her recording of her entering the hotel. She did not expect Craig to suspect her; she was panicking now. If he knew that woman was her and she was pregnant now, he would surely force her to do absorption.
- "I’m fine in the Ramirez family. Emily, don’t you worry about me; everything’s fine." She calmly replied to her. If Emily knew about her situation, she would impulsively come to the Ramirez family to cause a scene; she did not want to get her involved.
- After hanging up the call, she pondered for a while and went to Craig after Hayden left. When she was about to knock on his door, it opened suddenly. She knocked on his chest instead, and the two of them were stunned, looking at each other.
- He raised his hand to push hers away. "I want to talk about something."
- "I want to talk to you." Both of them almost spoke at the same time.
- Craig looked at her and said, "You go first."
- "Didn’t you say that you would compensate me for misunderstanding me?" She asked.
- He nodded. Ha, I thought money meant nothing to you! You’re pretentious after all!
- "Tell me, how much do you want?"
- She held back the urge to roll her eyes and answered, "I don’t need your money; I just need you to convince Grandma to agree to us getting a divorce. And the Ramirez family has to let my dad go willingly without any requirement." She thought that her request was easy for him.
- But, unexpectedly, he said, "Impossible." because he changed his mind just now.
- She looked at him shockingly and said, "Craig, are you crazy? Who was the one who fed me to the dogs before?"
- His face darkened, and he said, "That was before, but you have to stay now."
- She gritted her teeth and snorted, "Let me tell you, I will never stay!" She turned and walked away.
- He said casually, "Then you shall never bring your father away."
- She stopped, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and bit her lip so hard that it might bleed. She hated people threatening her with her father. "Okay, Craig, you’ll regret making me stay!"
- He sneered, "No one can make me regret it!"
- She trashed her room, and her action scared the maids. None of them had seen her so aggressive before. Amy reported it to Craig carefully, because Craig getting angry was even scarier than Gloria.
