Chapter 2 He Was That Man
- In the middle of the night, everyone in the Ramirez Manor was rushing up and down. And the doctors were surrounding his bed to do a full-body checkup on him. And the lead doctor with the most experience diagnosed that he was only having muscle twitch; Gloria lowered her head as she was ashamed. Her overreaction had caused trouble for them, and she felt sorry about it.
- But Maria was overjoyed, as she thought that this was a sign that Craig would wake up soon. And she was even sure that Gloria was bringing good luck to her grandson. Craig had not even responded once after the car accident for the past month, but now he actually held Gloria’s hand. It seemed like her grandson liked his arranged marriage.
- After that, Gloria took care of her husband wholeheartedly. She had been taking care of her father, who was in a coma, for years, so it was not hard for her to look after Craig. Her kindness and good behavior had made a lot of the maids like her, and Maria was very satisfied with her. Most of them were accepting of her, as they would address her as "Mrs. Ramirez".
- Craig was getting better under her care, unlike her father, who did not improve throughout the years. Craig had muscle twitches and even some tiny movements in his limbs. One day, Gloria woke up from her sleep, and she looked into his eyes while she was still blurry. The way he looked at her was cold and dangerous; she shivered, and she stumbled out of the bed out of reflexes. He’s awake! It’s real this time!
- She looked at him in surprise, and she observed him. It seemed that his eyes did not have any focus, and she recalled that she had read that some coma patients might open their eyes without realizing it. She raised her hand and waved it in front of his eyes, and he did not flinch a bit. So it was really what she thought it was. She was relieved by it, as she did not know how to interact with her husband, who was still a stranger to her. But her relief did not last long. When she was about to tuck him into bed, he actually grabbed her wrist so hard that it hurt her. And he said in a hoarse voice, "Who are you? F*ck off!"
- His voice was so familiar and cold, as if he were from hell. She shivered, and she saw him get out of bed. He was tall and muscular, which overshadowed her. And she was scared by his aura until she was lost for words.
- But her doubt actually made her ignore the pain on her wrist and also her fear of him. She asked as if she had lost her mind, "What did you just say? Say it again." He sounded almost the same as the man who took her virginity! Two months ago, she was tricked by her auntie into a high-class hotel, and she was drugged by a waiter who worked for her auntie. She was then pulled into a guest room, and she was almost toyed with by a middle-aged businessman’s sex slave.
- She tried her best to escape, but she bumped into a stranger. She was being sexually abused by that man, and the following morning he was nowhere to be found. Thinking of the suffering and humiliation that night, she gritted her teeth.
- Craig frowned and glared at her with disgust. He did not want to communicate with this unknown, ugly woman who appeared in his room. He called for his assistant and the maids, and he got to know what had happened when he had been in a coma for the past two months. He looked at Gloria with even more displeasure. He saw her as someone who married him for the money, and he thought that she was putting on an act to take care of him!
- Gloria had calmed down at that moment, and she looked at him with a complicated expression. He’s someone who doesn’t need to go after the women, and they’ll come to him. People can have similar traits, and they could also have similar voices.
- Suddenly, she heard him speaking. "I want a divorce now. You can ask for compensation." He would not let an unknown and sly woman stay by his side. He was egoistic and arrogant; he totally looked down at her.
- Gloria was displeased at his attitude, and it reminded her of how she had been bullied in the Chavez family throughout the years!
- Something snapped in her, and she said, "I want half of your assets during your marriage." Since he thinks that I’m a gold digger, I might as well be one!
- He was enraged and snorted, "Ugly woman, you better choose properly before I torture you!"
- She smirked mockingly and asked, "Huh? Are you not willing to pay? Why did you make yourself sound like you could pay any amount to me?" She then continued to say, "I won't be leaving the Ramirez family unless Madame Ramirez asks me to go."
- And she had her reasons for not wanting to leave. Firstly, she had a deal to marry him if Maria saved her father. Secondly, she had totally offended her uncle and auntie; if she was chased out now, she would leave with nothing.
- He had an icy-cold facial expression as he asked, "Are you using my grandma against me?"
- She answered, "If you think so." She did not bother to explain herself.
- "Throw her out of my room now!" He gritted his teeth.
- Amy White saw that things escalated between them, and she quickly stopped them by saying, "Mr. Ramirez, you can’t do this to Mrs. Ramirez; Madame Ramirez likes her a lot; if you chase her away, Madame will be furious!" The rest of the senior maids were trying to plead for Gloria. He was shocked to see their reactions. Was I in a coma for two months or twenty years? Why is everyone disobeying me now?
- He smiled mockingly at her and said, "You’re just an eighteen-year-old young girl, and you’re so sly!" Not only that, but my grandma likes her, and the maids in the Ramirez family like her too. This shows that she is not as innocent as she appears to be!
- She totally got his sarcasm, and she said with a smile, "Thanks for your compliments, but I can never be as sly as an old dude like you."
