Chapter 8
- I have no idea how long it has been since I arrived at the Costanzo estate. I don't even want to know because it will remind me of how I have no control over my own life. My thoughts wander to my co-workers as I fiddle with my food, wondering if they'd called the police after Thomas kidnapped me. I'm sure they did and are worried about me. Picturing Jane's face, I imagine how worried she will be about my whereabouts. My spoon goes limp in my cereal bowl as I realize I may never see Jane, or worse, my sister, again.
- "What's the matter, dear?" Linda inquires, jolting me out of my reverie. She sits beside me in the kitchen.
- "Nothing." I shake my head and pick up my spoon again but don't take a bite.
