Chapter 10

• I drag my feet out of the bathroom the next morning. My mood is gray right now, as is the color of the room's paint. I put on the new housekeeping uniform Linda got for me. I told Linda immediately when I got back yesterday to help me get a new one. I walk to the mirror to check myself out, and my shoulders drop as I see my ass. Even with a longer dress, my ass is still sticking out. Thomas is going to be furious when he sees me. I'm certain he thinks I chose a short dress to seduce him. If only he'd known I didn't even want him looking at my hand.
• I scratch my head, trying to figure out how to solve my problem. If I value my life, I should not wear this dress to work. Thomas would have my head the minute he saw me. I sit down on my bed, pondering over what else I could wear. I have few clothes as I was dragged here against my will. Most of the clothes I have were given to me by Linda.
• Time passes by as I mull over what to wear. I snap out of my reverie when someone knocks on my room door and slightly opens it. Serena pokes her head inside, smiling at me.
