- As the words she just said replay in my head, I fire another bullet close to Melina’s feet. I charge at her and grab her shoulder. Pulling her up to her knees with my free hand, I stare at her closed eyes, fury burning in mine. If it was possible, my anger and hatred for Melina reach new heights after she said those final words. I’m furious; those three words were what she chose to say as her last. My frown deepens as I realize she knows I won’t shoot her once she says them.
- “What the fuck did you just say?” I growl at her, pointing the gun once again at her forehead. I never miss, but I did twice—because I wasn’t expecting those words to be her last.
