Chapter 7 Goodnight, My Fiancé
- Dimitri walked in with an unpleasant look as he snatched the keychain away from her. "Who told you to use this room?" he asked. Selena blinked innocently before she responded in an unbothered tone. "Sandra brought me here. We're engaged, so aren't we supposed to share the same room?" she asked. Anyway, what did he mean when he said the keychain was his? That's obviously mine!
- Both man and woman were close to one another, so Dimitri could smell the strong scent of his body shampoo wafting from Selena after she had showered in his washroom. She was sitting on the bed, laying her long, slender legs straight in front of her. Dimitri felt especially frustrated after all the drinks he had at the engagement party, and his gaze darkened as he spoke to her in a hard tone. "Get out of here, and don't you ever come into my room again."
- Selena didn't insist on staying as well. "Goodnight, my fiancé," she replied with a huge grin. After the maids had prepared a separate room for Selena, she entered her room and lay on the bed as she recapped all the events of the day. Alas, I think it's going to be hard for me to get Dimitri to fall for me, she sighed inwardly.
- Selena woke up early the next morning. Jason had already made his orders clear—he wanted Selena to work at Hayden Group as he wanted her to build a stronger bond with Dimitri. Even though Dimitri didn't like the idea, he still couldn't stop Selena from becoming one of his secretaries. They made their way to the office together, and the people in the lobby whispered into each other's ears when they saw the couple walking into the elevator.
- "I heard the news that Mr. Hayden's fiancée is a downright beauty, but I hadn't expected her to look so good! She's a perfect match for him!" someone whispered.
- "Why does it matter if she's good-looking? She's just a village girl," another one replied.
- "But she doesn't act like a village girl at all. I heard that she had a piano match with Miss Olsen yesterday and that she had won!" someone else added. Leah was greeted with such words the moment she made her way into the company, and her face turned sour immediately.
- Leah had fancied Dimitri since a long time ago. She had always been wealthier, prettier, and more talented than the girls around her, and she had been confident in her abilities to win over Dimitri's heart. However, she had never expected some village girl to snatch her man away. Leah quickly calmed herself down. I hadn't expected Serena to be able to play the piano so well yesterday, but things are different now. We're at the company. Does Serena know anything about work at all? A sly look flashed across Leah's eyes at that thought.
- Dimitri had several assistants and secretaries, and Denise was one of them. After he got to his office, he assigned Selena to Denise to show her the ropes. When Selena saw the malicious look in Denise's eyes, she shifted to glare at Dimitri's back. He knows that Denise doesn't like me! He's doing this intentionally!
- "Selena, since Dimitri told me to watch over you, you'll have to listen to me now." It was true that Denise didn't like Selena. She didn't believe that a girl from the village could match up to her brother's standards. In fact, she had always wanted Leah to be her sister-in-law instead. With that thought, Denise spoke up haughtily. "You're from the village, so you probably don't know anything. You can start with the easiest task, I guess. Make Dimitri a cup of coffee."
- Selena took a long, slow look at Denise before she walked off to the pantry without saying anything. Denise had no idea how most of the people, who dared to give Selena orders, were practically dead at this point. She should be glad that she's Dimitri's sister, Selena thought. After making a cup of coffee, she handed it over to Denise. "This is way too hot. Do you even know how to make coffee? Do you know how picky Dimitri can get? You have to use warm water for him," Denise uttered.
- Selena made a second cup of coffee after that, but Denise complained before she even tasted the coffee. "This is way too cold. Make another one," she ordered, all the while staring at her laptop. She didn't even throw a glance at Selena at all. Selena took the coffee cup off the table and poured it all over Denise's head before she could react.
