Chapter 11 Reclaiming Her Items
- Selena slapped her palm against her forehead. She hadn't expected Dimitri to be kind enough to come over and help her out. I should've just waited another two minutes, she thought. She glanced at the door on the ground before speaking with a neutral face. "Your company's doors don't seem that sturdy," she commented.
- "Are they not sturdy enough?" Dimitri eyed her for a moment before glancing at the door on the ground. All the company's items are expensive products that we purchased overseas. Is this woman questioning the quality of my doors now? She never fails to surprise me.
- Selena simply smiled and nodded before walking off with him beside her. "Didn't you tell me to figure it out on my own, Dimitri? What are you doing here? Were you worried about me? So, you do care about me, after all." The man responded with a blank look on his face. "You're overthinking this. I just didn't want Denise to get punished should you decide to tell Grandpa about this," he replied. Then, he shot her a judgmental look to tell her that she was thinking too highly of herself.
- "I don't believe you. I'm sure you were just worried about me," she uttered.
- He was speechless at that point. Dimitri wasn't in the mood to argue with her, so they simply got into the car and headed home together. They had a good night's sleep after returning to the villa that day. The next day was the weekend, and they didn't have work. By the time Selena woke up, Dimitri was already nowhere to be seen. After having her lunch, she lazed on the couch and watched some television.
- She was enjoying herself when one of the maids came up to her. "Miss Young, Miss Naomi from the Quinn Family is here to visit you."
- Naomi, huh? Perfect timing. I was bored, anyway, Selena thought. "Tell her to come in," she said to the maid. Naomi had a few bags in her hand. "Hello, Miss Young. Do you still remember me?" she said in a sweet voice as she walked in.
- Selena remained seated on the couch as she responded nonchalantly. "Sure. What's the matter?"
- Naomi awkwardly seated herself by a corner of the couch before she replied to Selena. "I'm sorry for being so rude the other day, Miss Young. I found you rather different from others since the first time I saw you, and I genuinely wish to be friends with you," she said.
- Selena sent a glance in Naomi's direction before she started speaking in a less hostile tone. "Naomi, right? I can tell that you're genuinely nice to me, and I'm not a petty person anyway. You can call me Serena," she uttered. Naomi paused for a moment before she forced a smile onto her face. "That's… Great!"
- Selena, Serena… Naomi shook her head as she tried to convince herself that all of this was just a coincidence. Right then, Selena stood up and smiled at the other woman. "I was just thinking of doing some shopping. Do you want to come along?" she asked.
- "Sure," Naomi replied almost immediately. The driver sent the two women to a mall. In an attempt to please Selena, Naomi practically purchased every single item that Selena showed interest in. As a result, she found herself carrying a whole bunch of shopping bags while Selena walked around freely. Naomi was pretty much a maid at this point.
- After a while, they stopped at a jewelry store where Selena chose a few jewelry pieces. Naomi hurried off to pay the bill again. "You're really nice to your friends, Naomi. I'm starting to feel bad for getting you to pay for so many things," Selena uttered with a smirk. Naomi didn't notice anything, but a grim look flashed across Selena's gaze for just a brief moment.
- Back when they were in university together, Selena had treated Naomi like her best friend. And she would always buy things for Naomi when they went shopping together since Naomi came from an average family. Yet, all of Selena's good intentions turned out to be nothing. Now, I'm just reclaiming all that belonged to me in the first place!
