Chapter 10 This Heartless Man!
- When they got back to the office, Denise had already changed into a new set of clothes and had redone her makeup. She threw a bunch of documents on Selena's table before speaking in an unpleasant tone. "We'll need to use these reports during the meeting tomorrow, so you have to organize them by today."
- Selena narrowed her eyes when she saw the huge pile of documents. "Denise, we're both women. Why are you making life hard for me? Have you ever considered the fact that I might be your sister-in-law someday?"
- Denise sneered upon hearing Selena's words. "Pfft. You? You clearly have no idea what's going on. Dimitri only got engaged to you to pacify my grandfather. Do you really think you're going to become Mrs. Hayden someday? You know what? Dimitri was the one who told me to hand these documents to you," Denise uttered before she left with a cocky look on her face.
- Dimitri and his assistant happened to witness this scene as they walked out of his office. The man raised an eyebrow. Even though he hadn't been the one to give such orders, he was clearly rather amused by the problems that Denise was causing Selena. Selena pressed her lips together as she thought, That b*stard. Does he think this is going to be enough to chase me out of the company?
- It was a known fact that no one could ever manage to mess with Selena. By the end of the working day, Selena stretched her limbs before she handed the perfectly organized reports to Denise. Denise couldn't believe her own eyes. If this had been her first day at work, she would have probably needed a week just to deal with all these reports. But Selena…
- "You can tell Dimitri that such easy tasks aren't going to throw me off," Selena uttered before walking off with a smile on her face. When Denise saw Selena heading to the washroom, she was reminded of what had happened with the coffee earlier that morning. Her eyes glinted with malice as she quietly trailed along behind Selena.
- When Selena was done using the washroom and was about to leave, she realized that the door had been locked from the outside. She wasn't an idiot—she immediately figured out the culprit behind this act. That brat, Denise, is so childish. There weren't a lot of people in the building since everyone had gotten off work, and Denise probably figured that Selena didn't have a lot of connections in the company yet. Who can I call to help me out? Selena wondered.
- After staring at the locked door in front of her for a while, she blinked a few times before she decided to call Dimitri. The man only picked up after his phone rang for a while. "Hello?" His deep voice came from the other end of the line.
- "Your sister locked me up in the washroom, Dimitri," Selena uttered.
- "So?"
- Selena was speechless. Am I not making myself clear enough? At that moment, the lights in the toilet went off. The corner of her lips twitched as she thought, Now's my chance. She immediately ended the call with Dimitri. He was just about to curse the woman for being rude enough to end his call when he received another call from her. This time, it was a video call.
- It took Dimitri nearly one minute to pick up the call. "What is it this time?" he uttered exasperatedly.
- Selena didn't seem bothered by his tone of voice as she showed him her surroundings. "Look at this, Dimitri. The electricity has gone off in the company, and the skies are dark outside. Aren't you going to help me out at all?"
- "You can figure it out on your own," the man uttered icily. Then, he ended the call without any hesitation. This guy is so heartless! Selena thought as she pouted. It would probably just take a few minutes for him to come over from his office to where I am. She tried waiting for another ten minutes, but she didn't hear any sounds coming from outside at all. Eventually, she figured that he wasn't going to save her, so she kicked the door down without a sign of struggle on her face.
- The moment the washroom door slammed onto the ground with a loud bang, Selena stepped out of the washroom to find a man in a black suit standing at the entrance. The man was none other than Dimitri.
