Chapter 12 A Surprise for You
- In the meantime, Naomi was burdened with a heavy heart for having spent almost five million on Selena. At that moment, she couldn't help but feel tired while wearing her high heels, but even so, she forced a smile and replied, "I'm good. We're friends, after all. Anyway, I bet you must be tired now. Let's find somewhere to grab a drink."
- "Sure." Selena nodded with a smile.
- Soon, the two ladies found themselves in a café where they finally settled down after a shopping spree. While looking at Selena from behind her, Naomi's eyes were filled with unhappiness that quickly disappeared a second later. After all, she was aware of the fact that Selena was someone whose favor everybody else wanted to gain over the years.
- However, when things were supposed to take a turn for the worse for Selena after Walsh Corporation's downfall, she was able to turn things around, having found the opportunity of working with the Hayden Group knocking on her door, much to Naomi's dismay.
- Selena fiddled with her fingernails and casually asked, "You said I looked like one of your friends, didn't you, Naomi? Is it the deceased daughter of the Walsh Family, Selena Walsh?"
- When Naomi heard Selena's name, her face stiffened evidently. However, she quickly hid it with a smile and said, "Yeah, how did you know that, Serena? You know what? It's funny that both of you have similar names."
- "Well, I only found out about it when I was watching the past few days' news. I heard that she used to be in a relationship with Morgan, right?"
- Unwilling to talk about Selena, Naomi forced a smile and replied, "Yeah, but after she passed away in an accident, I stayed by Morgan's side until we eventually fell in love with each other."
- "Is that so?" Selena drank a cup of coffee with a sarcastic look flashing across her face. How shameless of her!
- Soon, Naomi changed the subject and said, "You know what, Serena? You and I really hit it off pretty well. Why don't you invite Mr. Hayden for dinner with me and my husband one day?"
- "Sure." Selena smiled and agreed with little hesitation. Later, when they walked out of the café, it was already getting dark. Selena suggested repaying Naomi's favor with a meal. "Hey, thanks for all the awesome gifts today. Why don't I treat you to dinner?"
- Nevertheless, Naomi appeared hesitant and answered, "Next time, perhaps. Today is me and Morgan's second wedding anniversary." She spoke while bashfully keeping her head down.
- Selena gazed at the lady playfully. "If that's the case, let's take a rain check. Anyway, I have to go."
- Naomi nodded and walked Selena to the car before the latter left. Then, she reached for her phone happily and gave Morgan a call. "Hey, Morgan. I have some good news for you. Serena just agreed that she'll join us for dinner one day with Mr. Hayden. Here comes our golden opportunity to work with them."
- Nonetheless, Morgan didn't sound happy as expected. Instead, he responded in a rather frustrated manner. "So what? How many millions did you spend trying to gain Serena's favor? Do you have any idea that she could be fooling you? Those millions that you spent will go to waste if this doesn't turn out in our favor. Are you dumb or what?"
- As soon as the man finished his words, he immediately hung up on Naomi. Needless to say, the lady was deeply disappointed by Morgan's harsh response. After all, her wish to live happily with Morgan did come true ever since 'Selena' died until Naomi decided to work in Walsh Corporation.
- Not long after they were married, she tried to work a job in that company but was hindered by several setbacks. Therefore, she had no choice but to settle down as a mere rich housewife. I am only trying to help you, Morgan. However, you didn't even mention a single thing about our anniversary. Have you forgotten about it? At the thought of that, Naomi's eyes darkened.
- However, little did Naomi know that Selena had been listening in on her tele-conversation with Morgan the whole time. While sitting in the car, Selena curled her lips gleefully. Don't be sad, Naomi. I'm going to prepare you a surprise for your anniversary—for old times' sake.
